CBS report in 2006 on Flu vaccines

As of 2022, after more than 60 years of experience with influenza vaccines, very little improvement in vaccine prevention of infection has been noted. As pointed out decades ago, and still true today, the rates of effectiveness of our best approved influenza vaccines would be inadequate for licensure for most other vaccine-preventable diseases.7
(Also Fauci 🤣)
Dude AF doesn’t know what he’s talking about he should consult Joe for his talking points.

If you bother to READ the article, it's referring to how flu and Covid viruses work, and yes - the mechanisms by which ALL of our vaccines have not changed fundamentally since the 1950s - they all act on the same portion of our immune systems.

But since flu and Covid viruses infect us DIFFERENTLY, they escape the mechanisms by which our fundamental vaccine methods work.

That does not mean there have been no improvements in flu vaccines since 1950 - I've already noted several for you. Just that they ALL act on the same element of our immune system, which is indeed inadequate to completely stop infections.

The entire point of the article is next-gen mucosal vaccine research which MAY be able to do that. But, with Trump defunding NIH and CDC, we may push back another 10 years before we get to see any of those developments.

You and MK don't know what you're talking about, because the CONTEXT of what Fauci is discussing is NOT what you're claiming here.

Our flu vaccines DO work, and we have the data that SHOWS they work. But, until we change what cells and immune mechanisms they target, we're not going to get ones that work fundamentally better.

There's LOADS of info in that article that explains WHY flu/Covid/respiratory vaccines are less effective than the ones for measles, mumps, rubella, smallpox, etc - EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE ALL DESIGNED TO TARGET THE SAME IMMUNE CELLS.

Go spend a day learning from that article, and you might get a little smarter, instead of just regurgitating out-of-context snippets here and Twitter nonsense.

You're right. It takes a great scientific mind like Joe's to interpret (for us non-intellectuals) what great scientific minds like Fauci's are talking about.

Like the following, for instance. It appears that Fauci is saying past attempts to control flu and covid with vaccination programs have been an epic failure, but what he probably means is that they've been wildly successful. That's 'science speak' and only Joe can decipher it. 🤣

Past unsuccessful attempts to elicit solid protection against mucosal respiratory viruses and to control the deadly outbreaks and pandemics they cause have been a scientific and public health failure that must be urgently addressed.

Except that's not what he's saying.

Respiratory vaccines for flu and Covid, etc, function the same way that vaccines for other stuff work; only, that method is much less effective for those specific types of viruses. Not "useless", as you want to claim - just not nearly as effective.

Next Gen vaccines for these viruses need to target different parts of our immune system, which COULD make them as good as the standard vaccine designs are for measles, etc. But, if RFK Jr shuts down our vaccination programs and grants, we will be delayed 5-10 years in getting them.

Yes; because they have to formulate flu vaccines 8 months before flu season, SOMETIMES that vaccine is not effective against the variants that circulate.

MOST other years, IT IS effective.
Generally, never better than 50%, which it hasn't been since 2013
