Not conferences that are not P4 ones....
I'm okay with it. They made the whole 5 conference championships with the idea in mind that the Pac would exist and it would be B1G, SEC, B12, ACC and Pac getting the P5 auto bids with a G5 on the outside looking in.

You can thank OU/TX and UO/UW/USC/UCLA for collapsing the pac and weakening the B12. Now a G5 has a clear path to an auto bid and every once and a while a first round bye.

Can't have teams that play 1 legit team a year and lose to them getting a top 4 seed cause their conferences suck...

I don’t disagree

It really makes no sense that they wouldn’t do a sweet 16
I still think ASU loses but getting Texas is probably the most generous of the heavy hitters if they get there. Clemson won't be an easy out though.

Saban in tears practically saying you can’t schedule tough good games anymore if SoS doesn’t matter. Maybe don’t lose to vandy and a crap Oklahoma team turd.
I think he's right. No sense in scheduling hard any longer if teams like ASU and BSU can earn byes without playing anybody. It's a fact. Even Pollard was agreeing with this in his interview.

Hopefully Auto bye goes to just the better seeded teams not conference champion cause Boise State and Arizona state does not deserve the auto bye in my opinion. SOS should be the number one factor when picking teams. But looking at the bracket it looks like if you win double digit games your team will be in consideration. 9-3 Alabama beats 10-3 Clemson 9 out of 10 times.

Saban’s right, there’s no point in scheduling difficult teams that cause you to stumble. My guess is that the Iowa v Iowa St game goes away after their latest agreement expires.

I'm no 'bama fan, but I do agree with the argument that strength of schedule should matter. More so than being runner up in a second tier league with a couple of decent wins.
I have less issue with that, though, than the byes. That needs fixed.

I think that this has to be a serious consideration at least going forward rather than hopeful speculation as it used to be. No sense since ISU is a decent opponent now. Schedule the Maine Black Bears of the world going forward. They'll love the money and the ass kicking.

Not a troll, had ISU played ASU to the wire would they be in instead of SMU?

These teams aren’t lining up against middle school teams. Getting to 10 wins in d1 football is tough. You have to play who is in front of you. If there are 3 loss teams they should never be considered if they can fill it with 2 loss or better teams.

I don’t know if you’re suggesting that SMU is a better team than Bama or they just have less losses than Bama?

You can’t control who you play in conference. Hell, you don’t know who will be good out of conference. Saban said Alabama plays strong out of conference teams like Wisconsin and Florida State. Those are two bad football teams right now.

First time Indiana and Notre Dame are playing each other since 1991, their only meeting in the past 66 years.
I hope Indiana pulls that win out some way I have Notre Dame fatigue. They are normally always a good team, but they have not been a great team in 10+ years watching them get destroyed by more superior teams from conferences has shown in my opinion that they need to let go of the past and join a conference.

I think they got the field right which is relieving to see. They had to give byes based on the conference champ requirements but they need to fix that requirement asap. Boise blindly getting a bye over a power 4 runner up is a travesty.

SEC and B10 drop out to form their own league and pay players.
They're already on their way towards doing that. It's been blatantly obvious. I've been saying this the last two years. We have 5 more years of this. Next realignment will take away this issue. It's only auditions into the B1G or SEC that any other outside teams are playing for.
