Chicago Tribune Offended By Term Illegal Alien

US Congress started this -
The Congress also calls citizens "felons" which is insensitive too.

UNITED STATES CODE, TITLE 8—ALIENS AND NATIONALITY
§ 1101. Definitions
. . .
(3) The term ‘‘alien’’ means any person not a
citizen or national of the United States.

I object to the term because it is simply illogical and bad grammar. The person is not illegal. They are doing something that is illegal.
You are forgetting the alien part. Illegal is simply describing their alien status. Anyone offended by it likely has serious mental health issues.

No I am not. You just backed up my position. It is the status that is illegal not the person. Why do you think someone that is offended by it has mental health issues? That's weird.

"Alien who's status is illegal" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

Why does everything need to be shortened? Also, what we are really talking about is immigrants not aliens. An alien can be a person who just comes from another country for vacation or temporary work but still lives in their home country.

Are you also offended by resident aliens?

So do you object to someone being called a felon? The person is not a felon, it was the act that was felonious?

Actually, this is wrong. A felon is defined as a person committing a felony. Like a criminal is a person guilty of committing a crime.

Bc being offended by something as simple as a basic legal description of alien status is pathetic. Illegal alien is no different than people legally labeled resident aliens, non immigrant aliens etc... accept to some that can't seem to accept the fact they are here illegally!

You prefer "illegal immigrant" to "illegal alien"? They mean the same thing, the only difference being that the word immigrant sounds less threatening. In the movies, Earth was never attack by immigrants from outer space.

Hmm......Let's see.

Chicago sits on Lake Michigan. I'm seeing a great opportunity for making these illegal, uninvited, interlopers disappear.

We know they can easily swim a river but I wonder how well they can do on a big lake.

Oh I get it! You are an idiot! This makes perfect sense now!

1) you are wrong about it being the same.
2) what is worse: being offended by the word or being offended by someone being offended?
3) I have never seen anyone make the argument that 'illegal aliens' aren't here illegally. That's just a strawman.

1) I didn't say that.
2) there is a difference between alien and immigrant
3) why bring 'aliens' into this?

You are trying way to hard

Actually this requires little effort to do. You must have a low standard for trying hard.
Your fail does indicate you aren't trying hard enough. Maybe try reading a book.
