CJ Update

Kreiner when playing with confidence is usually a nice piece but my goodness he’s struggled over the past few games.. 12 and 7 would go a long way from him.

at the end of the day Joe W and Luka need to understand that if you’re open the shot has to go up its unlikely you’ll get a better look later in the flick with what else is on the floor.

Kreiner lately has been very sloppy with the ball. If he fixes that alone Hawks may be competitive. He has to step up for Hawks to win any remaining games IMO.

I haven't watched Ash play enough to know much, but he seemed to have a nose for the ball in the few minutes he played. A couple of steals and a couple of rebounds in 5 minutes. His shot is funky, but apparently he is a threat from deep. Definitely not CJ, but maybe OK for a few minutes each half.

Biggest issue I had with him is he had no clue about how to play zone. In multiple possessions he chased the ball and drifted over to other side of the court instead of staying put. I noticed Connor had to grab him and tell him to stay in his zone.

He’s a defensive liability and that’s saying something considering some of the others.

Funny thing is that he was in the right place at the right time on something like 3 of 5 possession, when the ball found him.:)

Kid is a hustler. I think he plays just a bit fast like Joe T did when he first started. With more PT I think Ash can contribute in the point column as well as, as you've said, pick up some steals.

Austin Ash did a nice job at Indiana. He contributed more than some of the Schollie, guys who I won't name, here.

Ryan K is the key now. What happened to him stroking a 3 or two, every game, as he has been wont to do. Let's go Spirit Lake !!!

Earlier in the season, I was one who thought Pemsl was now so slow and unathletic that Till would be a better option. Against most teams, Pemsl is clearly a better, albeit not-very-good, option.

If we are cold from 3, I’m not sure that inserting Austin Ash for a few minutes is not worth a try. He was ok at Indiana.

Not that I expect CJF back within a week, but releases are listing him as "day-to-day" rather than "week-to-week"

Mark Emmert said that CJ was wearing shoes. NO boot. That is huge!!!

The TV annoucer did say that it looked pretty bruised. But if he had a serious injury, he wouldn't be wearing just dress shoes a couple of days out. That is the best news we can hear, at this point.

CJ's dad did say he was a very quick healer. That is good news too.

I've had plenty of ankle sprains, and bruising is not necessarily correlated with severity. Seems like he is likely back in the regular season.
