Clark’s body language is letting us know we’re in for a loooong year

Everyone looked so scared last night. IDK how you can be so scared after last season and demolishing teams like Ohio State. Like Mulkey said after their loss to CO, you can accept a poor shooting night and move on. You can't accept a lack of tenacity, attitude, bravery. We had none, KSU had it all. We gave up so many shots. Shoot the god damn ball.

chances are we get it on again in tournament play soon. obviously, k-state is delighted with the win. but these cats are pretty seasoned while iowa is adjusting to some new rotations.

it would be nice if the two schools played more often in more sports. both are p5 level programs separated by just a few hundred miles. we should do this more often.

KSU was a bad matchup for Iowa (big & physical) and they had a great game plan in place, make CC work as hard as possible for every scoring opportunity and deny her the ball always, and they executed it to perfection and Bluder had no answer for it. Couple that with bad team shooting, extremely physical play and inconsistency in the officiating throughout and it equals a well deserved loss for the Iowa women.

They need to figure out how to properly set a screen, and set up the screener as well. They were running out token picks at the top of the key for Caitlin where the defender never even touched the screener. It was maddening.

If K-state makes 30% of the 2' shots they missed the game is a blowout loss.

I thought Clarks shoulder shrugs and continuous complaining to the officials had decreased last year, but as soon as things got tough she resorted back to doing that stuff again and it affected her play. She was still complaining about 1 missed call 2 trips to the defensive end.....If you can't get passed that stuff and play through some adversity it's going to affect your game and your teammates....
To an extent I get your point, BUT at the same time I find it puzzling that as fans we think we have ANY idea at all the pressure that young lady is under to carry her team, her program, her school, and to be the face of not only womens basketball, but even women in sports to some degree. She has NO true equal or peer on her team, to find solace with. Would it be possible to understand that at times all of this plays havoc with her emotions, especially being a super type A+ personality. I have no idea what exactly last night was, but she just wasn't "there" last night. At time outs she went to the bench and sat, not really even speaking, Thats not the CC we've watched the last 3 years.

In a 7 point loss, Iowa died by the 3.

When's the last time Iowa shot under 10% from three (2-21 for 9.5%) on their home court, or ever? CC was 2-16 (13%) from three

It's one game. Don't overreact. Flush it. Lots of games to be played. The season is not over. Not by a long shot.

Iowa's centers need to look to score. The commentator pointed out that with a bit under 20 seconds left and Iowa down by 3, Goodman got the loose ball near the basket without being guarded. Instead of trying to score, she passed the ball out. Iowa then missed the 3. Maybe she's intimidated by the thought of Ayoka Lee.

We had a 5-point lead with 2:40 left in the game and couldn't hold on for the win. Our late game strategy was obviously very wrong. Should have milked the shot clock on every possession and forced them to start fouling.

She mentally gave up today after the big missed the layup right before the half.

Last year was our year & Caitlin knows that.

I hope I’m wrong but I have a feeling Caitlin will be frustrated all year long.

This is a top 20 team this year. Maybe top 25 at best.

And don’t even get me started on Martin & Marshall’s worthless play this season.
Winners overcome frustration and she's a winner.

This is just my opinion. The team goes as Caitlin goes. No secret there. Last night I watched a Caitlin without all her tools. Her first step was slow. The first three offensive plays were designed for her, and her shots were short. But that's when I noticed she had a farmer's tan. Her arms were bright red. I don't know what she had been doing during the day, but the weather was sunny and nice. I think she found out she isn't Superwoman. She knew it and so did Bluder knew it when Caitlin made a 3 just before half and a timeout was called. Bluder got into her ear about something. Give K-State credit, they played great defense and their big was using her size and capitalized on it.
Bluder got into her because she said **** after the 3 point shot.

Something was wrong tonight with Clark. She looked sick or something. All her shots were short, lack of intensity, and really bad body language. She would miss a shot and just stand there pouting while her teammates were running back on defense. She should have been benched.
Maybe she feels the weight of her team on her shoulders? A long season where she has to be the one who carries the team and do eveything when nobody else can contribute? She had MC to help burden the responsibility and she doesn't have that yet with AO, SG & HS.
Others are going to have to step up and help carry the load because she wont be able to do it all by herself.

Just watched the postgame conference and CC seemed normal, engaged, etc. She said they just didnt play Iowa basketball.

At least Bluder can't blame it on officiating this year (20-12 advantage).

Gabby may be an all-world defender, but I'm not sure they can wait 25 games for her to start hitting wide open 3's this year.

We are used to winning them all. A bad game against a team we didn't match-up well...and out of synch discomobulation of miserable misfire. We forget about last year when Caitlin wasn't hitting 3's until the Minny game. And this year, no Monica, no auto 2's.

The Drake game we re-found the groove. Let's face it, without an established 5 spot Iowa does not have front court size. Most teams don't which allows Iowa to be competitive, even in the B1G. When a K-State comes along with a 6'2, 6'3" 6'6" front court we find ourselves in trouble. Count on it in the in the upper brackets of the NCAA tourney, along with quality athleticism.

The Hawkeyes, with the best player in history, 3 pt, shooters, and a terrific coaching staff we have a chance. Forgive my statistician tendency, but since Caitlin is again leading the nation in scoring this is an interesting angle. There are 348 Division 1 women programs, and with the allotted 15 scholarships, we are talking over 5200 athletes. Round that down to 5000 or absences, injuries, etc., for a comparative number and Caitlin is leading 4,999 women*.

Not bad!

* always keep in mind has aged I won't bet my life on my math.

I am going to run with "I think CC will be just fine and so will the team" and not get caught into on game where they did not look so hot. Jaysus, have some faith. Are most of the whiners from the football board? Good lord.

Utterly ridiculous they couldn't bring in any decent players to help after last season's success.
