CLARK

Cory does deserve a thread, IMO. Wrestled a great tournament. Had Dardanes on the ropes. One lapse in OT to give up the takedown. If not for that, I think he rides him out and ends up in the finals for a rematch with "Victory Lap" Taylor.

I think he's going to make a statement in St. Louis. This is the best he's wrestled all year. Looks confident. Love his style, too. Easily the most aggressive guy in the lineup.

Without, Gilmans,Clarks, Sorensons,Evans,Brooks,Buraks, and Telfords wins we don't share the championship.
Ahh so you were impressed with Dziewa's performance in the tournament. Good to know and thank you for sharing, Iowa fan.

How is it that nearly everyone stands up against Clark when he has the arm bar (chicken wing) secured?
No forward pressure. Tends to pull it up too much to secure rather than drive it in.

I agree wholeheartedly with everyone's take on Clark. He wrestled a great tournament with a stacked field and avenged two prior losses. (JDJ and Richards) He also closed the gap a bit with Dardanes. Last time Dardanes took him behind the woodshed. Cory looked much better this time. Dardanes has a clear strength advantage, but Cory is a better technical wrestler. I wouldn't be surprised if Cory pulled off the upset at Nationals. The Dardanes have a bit of history with shitting the bed at nationals. He helped out his seeding for sure. He'll be behind Taylor, Dardanes, Brewer and Schopp. I think with Brewer beating Hall at B12's and Cory's head to head win over him, he gets the 5 seed and Hall the 6. Might look something like this:

1 Dardanes
2 Brewer
3 Schopp
4 Taylor
5 Clark
6 Hall

However you slice it, 133 is a meat grinder weight class

If Cory can get Dardanes in the semi-finals, I think that's favorable. Dardanes is a big weight-cutter and may not enough gas in the tank Friday night.

Taylor is a nightmare match up in the quarters IMO though.

I agree with most of the things said about Clark's performance this weekend. Beating Di Julius twice and manhandling Richards was impressive. In Dardanes' match, Clark had 53 seconds of riding time; he rides him 7 more seconds and he wins in regulation rather than going to overtime. I think he can beat him next time..

I have always been impressed with Clark ( by always I mean since last years NCAA tourney). He seems to flows from one move to the next. He can scramble and he seems athletic. He ay be just a bit small this year and it could factor into some matches, but he is exciting and definitely a bright spot on the team.

Agree, behind Dardanes he is next worst matchup IMO, especially since Schopp was out hurt. At least he has wrestled him before though.

Agreed, but there will be a lot of wrestling and scrambles and Clark can win those types of matches. Even in his loss in the Big 10 finals, I was extremely impressed with Taylor and even more confused on how in the H*** he ever made 125.

Taylor should be ahead of Schopp who lost in his conference tourney early. I'd think it'd be Schopp vs Clark, with Taylor as the #3.

Not sure if it matters but Schopp also has a loss to Richards this year at Midlands. Schopp had a win over Taylor at Midlands as well.
