While she most certainly was not likely to be on their must see list, I can pretty much guarantee they were thrilled to meet her, if in fact they did. She is easily more recognizable than any wrestler and it’s not even close. Right now she is bigger than the WNBA in terms of recognition so the argument nobody watches it is irrelevant. When athletes like Shaq, LeBron and Mahomes etc. know who you are you’re kind of a big deal. Kids gravitate to that.
Hope they did get to meet CC. Hell yes - if you have one of the world’s most famous athletes back on campus - and one of the best representatives of the UI - damn right I am making sure these kids get the chance to meet her! Major PR fail if you don’t have her “stop by.”

I'm not a big fan of women's sports. They're smaller, slower, and weaker. But CC does certain things better than almost all men. Her passing is a treat to watch, and her long threes are super fun.

Me neither. The exceptions are wrestling and beach volleyball <ahem>. Even when Iowa had Megan G, I would start watching and try hard to get through it but change the channel unless it was NCAA time. After jumping on the Clark bandwagon, started to appreciate it much more but really had to adjust my expectations compared to Men's basketball. But yea, Caitlin is sure fun to watch...one of the few that lives up to the hype.

As a lifelong wrestler who loves watching the sport, Caitlin Clark has given me some of my best Hawkeye memories. There's nothing embarrassing about that.

It’s about more than womens basketball…she’s a celebrity. For half of the past year you couldn’t watch any sports talk without them talking about her. You may be right that they couldn’t care any less to meet her. But to say just because she’s a women’s basketball player it’s idiotic to entertain the thought of them enjoying that meeting, is idiotic in itself!
Who said anything about being embarrassed of Caitlin Clark. I offended all of these people bc I really dislike basketball and dislike women's basketball even more so than men's. Caitlin Clark is famous and awesome at her craft. I'm glad she's an Iowan. I just choose not to watch basketball bc I do not like it. I know this will add flames to the fire but I bet the recruits in attendance last weekend would have rather met Cory Clark than Caitlin Clark.

I do see adds on commercial's not by choice or see stuff on TV in restaurant's and bars in the background. How is this any different? It's simple I don't watch things I don't enjoy unless its family. Too true. You couldn't pay me to watch women's bball prior to CC, but I found myself trying to tune in towards the end of her Hawkeye career and even a few games for the Fever. Her competitiveness is unmatched and she seems to have the ability to 'flip the switch' as some say.
Wow, I hadn't thought about CC being referred to Cory Clark in the a long time. I think 99.9% (maybe 83% too) of the people who pay attention to sports knows that CC refers to Caitlin Clark. She is the 4th most marketable sports personality in the world after all. Obviously some people in the world of wrestling could care less to meet CC, but I'm also willing to bet that some would be thrilled to meet her and get a photo taken with her. At the very least, you get to meet CC. But who knows, maybe it can tip the scales in Iowa's favor.

Would have to disagree. As mentioned, she is a superstar and one of the most recognized athletes (male or female) in the world. When Mahomes, Aaron Judge, etc are thrilled to meet CC and get a picture with her, it seems like a HS kid might as well. To assume they wouldn’t want to meet her is a bit naive. While some of these HS wrestlers may have their heads buried in the sport and not know who CC is, any real sports fan knows who Caitlin is.
In fact, Caitlin Clark is such a huge deal that many have started to misspell her name.

I was making a weak comparison WRT star power since he made it appear they their star power was comparable. CC is all that and then some, but to make comparisons with Taylor? I think not. And I despise Taylor Swift.
