Just watched Space Odyssey again. Taking nominations for next movie to watch for discussion. The rules movie should be around 2 decades or more old. Second rule needs to be cinematic. Or for a better word something that must be appreciated on large HD screens. My nomination Last of the Mohicans

Your second rule makes it more difficult for me. I have been watching older movies - even going back to the 1930s for awhile now. My original thought was The Philadelphia Story, Cool Hand Luke, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, but I don't think they are going to fit with Rule 2.

Sorry not sorry :). My reason for the rule is now with access I have to classic cinematic type movies. And large HD TV. It doesn’t make sense for rewatch where the tech isn’t needed.

I nominate Videodrome. Super relevant to today's media saturated culture, so much symbolism to talk about, an unreliable protagonist for whom reality/fantasy/horrifying hallucinations all start to blur, and nude scenes Debbie Harry of Blondie (about as cinematic as you get).

Been awhile loved it when I saw it. Definitely will be near the top so far

I couldn't watch Iowa play last night (eyes bleeding) so I surfed around and saw Dr. Strangelove was on. I watched that.

Going to put a list of 6 together based on suggestions and various decades. Vote on it tomorrow. Then watch over weekend. Discussion Monday.

For a little more trippy list but good for cinematic.

Requiem for a Dream
Trainspotting
I still have nightmares about the fridge in Requiem and the baby on the ceiling in Trainspotting. Great movies

Trying to think of something people may not have seen, that feels kind of "big" at least:

North By Northwest - great Hitchcock action comedy
Stagecoach (1939) if you want to go old, it's surprisingly cinematic for it's age
Citizen Kane - if you haven't seen it, it's as good as its rep
The Good the Bad and The Ugly / Once Upon A Time In The West - both great cinematic westerns
