Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. Wonder if we start seeing this for other tournaments.I suspect it has to do with the match not counting on the D1 wrestlers record and the NCAA seeding criteria. D1 wrestlers have limited competition dates and probably don't want to be the one opposite a non-D1 athlete early in the bracket, considering that could cause them to have insufficient matches to have a RPI. It's generally better to be seeded higher at NCAAs.
