Is it bad that I'm not even upset?

Win or lose, who really remembers or truly cares about a bowl game. They're played at half staff and no recruits probably base any decisions on where they go based on some meaningless bowl gameplay. They're nothing but a reward for the players to go somewhere on somebody else's dime for a week. Which ain't a bad thing if you're a player.
Now days maybe, although I thought the ones who played gave the effort to have a chance. As far as remembering the games I will always remember this one:

Kirk is a good man and I have seen--and have personal knowledge of--him doing many good things for people when he didn't need to. He recruits and guides good men to his program. He has done countless good things for Iowa and the program.
His philosphy, strategy, and refusal to adapt make him a very frustrating coach and I personally have been ready for him to go for a number of years.

I was not able to watch until the end of the third quarter. I was out with a couple of my fellow retirees for the end of the game. I basically called the 4th quarter to them to a “T”. I said Iowa would turn it over. They did. I then said Missouri would go down and score. They did.

Then I said the Hawks would punt. They did. I said Missouri would score to take the lead. They did. I said Iowa would not move the ball and end up giving it back to Missouri. They did.

But I was wrong about Missouri’s next possession, because I said they would run the clock out. When Iowa got the ball back in EXCELLENT field position, I said the Hawks wouldn’t even get a first down. They didn’t.

I wasn’t being negative, I had just seen this movie too many times before. Iowa’s offense is just not capable of putting a drive together at the end of a game to win on anything close to a consistent basis. Sullivan’s pathetic QB sneak made me laugh out loud. They looked like the Keystone Kops.
Lead at halftime, offense impotent in second half and the defense looks like Swiss cheese. Typical Iowa loss.

We don't have the athletes. We don't have coaches with any imagination or creativity. QB play is non existent and has been for a long time.

Overall, college sports are not what they use to be with NIL and Portal. We will never be able to compete with either......NEVER!
I wasnt that upset. I am way passed being upset after the last few years of poor offense.

I thought early on this season, like many noticed, that our pass rush was less, that our pass coverage was not as tight. We immediately saw a better rushing attack but our passing game was only slightly better than from Deac Hill. We were completing a slightly higher percentage of passes but not throwing it down the field and our pass protection was just a bit better.

So not very upset knowing the team was not as great defensively and had some of the same passing issues.

We gave away a sure victory against ISU, fixed some things there and had some good wins. But played poorly at MSU and Ucla, two games that just was a magnification of what I listed earlier.

Reality check of importance...next time they wave to the hospital, check to see if you're one of the lucky ones looking up, or one of the unlucky families looking down!

I watch every game start to finish just because as an alumnus, it’s part of who I am. The first thing I did when I visited the campus my senior year of high school was head to Kinnick and watch Iowa-Michigan. I just can’t seem to shake that. But I have little to no emotional investment in the games’ outcomes anymore.

I’ll be 60 next year and I’ve come to the realization that my alma mater will never compete for anything meaningful in football the rest of my lifetime. Probably sunk in for good after the MSU gut punch in 2015 followed by the Rose Bowl debacle. And that’s okay. There are literally billions of other people who would love for that to be their worst problem.
Yep. It doesn't have the same meaning. 5 or so years ado I'd be pissed for 3 days. Now, when or lose, I pretty much flush it after about 30 minutes. Mildly upset, but not even close to angry.

How about this, I don't care that you don't care. That's BAD!

Legit forgot the game was on yesterday. Totally checked out of the sh*t show awhile back.

I care, but I don't have any expectations. I've learned that will only lead to disappointment.
Enjoy the wins and be happy for the players. Forgot the losses.

These days, CFB is essentially just pay for play anyway - so why bother getting upset over it unless you invested a bunch of $$$ in the team's success. I spend absolutely zero dollars directly.

There is absolutely no reason to ever be upset about a bowl loss anymore as long as the team showed up to play. With the number of players that skip out on it any more all we can really hope for is the players who are out on the field don't look completely unprepared when they are out there. I feel that this Iowa team accomplished that goal. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but it doesn't mean much about anything beyond a glimpse at what some of the players may or may not be for next season.

*Playoff games are different though and there is every reason to be happy or upset about them.

I thought the game was important to see what the Hawks will have to work with next year and where they need to fill holes through the portal. There were some positives coming out of the game and definitely some areas of need.

I agree with this completely. I'm just not going to get upset if they lose. The only way I'll ever get upset at the outcome of one of these non-playoff bowl games is if it looks like the team is unprepared or plays like they don't want to be there.

It’s become comical to me watching KF punt from an opponent 40 yard line on 4th and two. Retire already if your offense can’t pick up a first down.
Yep. And from our vastly improved offensive lilne. LOL. Same scene as 2015s Big10 Champ game and too many numerous others in the last 10 years

I don't mind it if we have a defense like we did last year. Doing that with that defense actually ended up in points for Iowa quite regularly. However, this year's defense wasn't close to last years defense. He should have gone for it in that situation imo. While our punter was good enough to put the ball where it needed to be, our defense wasn't consistent enough to turn it into points.

Same place I am at and losing interest more and more every game. Makes me sad because I have been a rabid Iowa fan for close to 70 years.
This is something I'm not sure university Admin may truly perceive.... Iowa needs every $ and voice to be able to compete in P2. Hayden Fry and Bump understood this years ago and Fry made it a priority to own the state in recruiting, marketing, product. KF, FMc and is slowly squandering said capital and it will take some time to get it back. Casual, arm-chair fans will rally behind excitement and Iowa FB, MBB are lacking right now.

I don't mind it either, once in a while. Problem w/ KF is this is his modus operandi. I don't think KF makes a playoff during the remainder of his Iowa tenure.

If I'm upset, it's not about the outcome of the game. Let's be honest, there really was nothing riding on that music city bowl. I'm just upset with the amount of mediocrity that has crept into the men's football and basketball programs. That, and upset with myself for coming back for more when I know nothing is going to change.

I grew up a rabid fan in the late 80s and 1990s. Never thought I'd say it, but I'm slowly but surely starting to lose interest in Iowa sports, and college sports I'm general. The NIL situation is feeding into that. From all I'm reading, Iowa is unable to keepup. Can't say I'm surprised.

My interest is definitely shifting more towards pro sports.

Kirk is an arrogant SOB at this point and I despise him for not putting a competent passing game together. It’s a joke. He hasn’t accomplished anything of importance with the program since 2010 Orange Bowl win. He remains behind the times.
Yes! (And I might remind viewers that GaTech team was very one-dimensional on offense and Norm had the perfect answer to it)

Not if he only has one more year left. The schedule for them is too tough next season and it doesn't look like they have the defense to compete on that level coming back next year. But, with NIL things can certainly change.

There is some of this, although it probably has more to do with the Vikings actually being fun to watch. Can't say any of my other teams are worth anything and the cost of watching them isn't in line with the quality of team they are putting on the field (or ice/court).

It's what KF does. Get to 24 points and a 10 point lead, get into tornado position and hope/pray that the clock just runs out and we preserve the win.

We've seen the movie a hundred times
We have had pro bowl tight ends ride the pine. Starting NFL running backs at wide receiver not getting touches. Lol
Cluster.
Kirk and Fran have sucked the life out of both of their programs.

We are fortunate as fans to have this program.
If we change anything, we are doomed to irrelevancy.

I agree and have been a fan of Ferentz leaving Iowa for a long time. It is always just more of the same with Ferentz and now Iowa cannot even compete with top 10 teams.

Frandaman posted yesterday that Iowa is 0-9 in their last nine games against ranked opponents and were outscored 297-75. I already mentioned the two BTCG blowouts to Michigan.
….,but Iowa beats Nebraska.

Every P2 program that's not in the top tier of the Big10 and SEC and wants to actively compete in P2 should take a deep look inside at what they really do and value in terms of production.

When Boise (Freakin') State can have a team (P5) that can hang for most of the game w/ Penn State and Oregon, and move the ball on offense when needed.....and SMU, Indiana, Louisville, have programs playing above levels they traditionally fall in that have offenses that are innovative and have a pulse. Kansas last year and 2nd half of this year after losing the OC to Penn St. is another one.

This begs the question....WTF is wrong w/ Iowa on offense for so long? Purdue sux this year but was pretty good when Brahm was there (now @ UofL) Wiscy? Minny? P2 programs have more resources and should be able to reach Boise level every so often.

Our HC is a big giant p*ssy who would never take "chances" running the kind of plays those other teams run because he'd be scared to death it might result in a turnover.

Those other teams try to create opportunities when they have the ball. Kirk Ferentz has zero interest in creating opportunities. He wants to avoid mistakes, and punt.

I gave up being mad back in like 2005-06 { sometime around then I guess} when iowa lost to TX in the alamobowl. I decided I was getting into it too much and I cannot help to control the outcome
