Is it bad that I'm not even upset?

Our HC is a big giant p*ssy who would never take "chances" running the kind of plays those other teams run because he'd be scared to death it might result in a turnover.

Those other teams try to create opportunities when they have the ball. Kirk Ferentz has zero interest in creating opportunities. He wants to avoid mistakes, and punt.
Your post got me thinking…..how many trick or “exotic” plays did Iowa run this season? It can’t be too many. I honestly can’t think of one. Maybe a halfback pass? I know there were some reverses, but I don’t classify those as trick or exotic.

We don't have the athletes. We don't have coaches with any imagination or creativity. QB play is non existent and has been for a long time.

Overall, college sports are not what they use to be with NIL and Portal. We will never be able to compete with either......NEVER!
Arizona State just made the playoff and played damn good against Texas.

Our staff has sucked at recruiting, plain and simple.

As soon as KF punted from the 40 I felt the room's expectation change. It was going to be a Ferentz Fear Factor special. We actually were laughing at watching it play out. It's entertaining from that perspective.

But it sure would be much more fun to watch an aggressive team. At least go down swinging.

I suppose one could say we've kind of checked out of the KF era. Expectations are gone and no one is excited about the future. But I do enjoy the company of the sons and grandsons.

Reactions: NI hawk and littlez
This is where I’ve been with Iowa football … hell, even basketball … for several years. We will never be elite like a Michigan or Ohio State or Oregon or Alabama in football or Duke or North Carolina or any of the monster programs in hoops. We’re Iowa. We don’t have the natural area to draw from for top athletes and NIL has only further separated the big boys from the rest of us. Iowa is NOT a big boy program.

Reality:

- Iowa will never win a CFP championship.
- Iowa men’s basketball will never make it to the Final Four. (Without a generational player like a Caitlin Clark, it’s doubtful the Iowa women ever get that far again, either.)

So for Hawkeye fans maybe 7-5 or 8-4 and a bowl appearance is good enough. Anything above that, hey that’s great.

And maybe getting through the first round games in basketball ought to be a measure of success.

We’re just li’l ol’ Iowa.
Iowa State might make a final four this year. They were also in the mix for a FB playoff birth. If they win in Ames next year, it will be three out of the last four. I don’t think it’s reaching to ask that we be at least as good as them in the two sports that matter.
