Rest in peace Dedric. Sad for everyone who will miss him.
The dopey rivalry is meaningless and trivial in the big picture.
I grew up in Ames, so I'd see him around town. He was always really nice to us young fans. Rest in Peace!
A name I haven’t heard in awhile, but I remember worrying about him as a kid when Iowa played them. He was a good one. May he RIP and his family and friends find comfort.

He was part of some entertaining ISU teams his two years, even though they had several transfers. Kind of a portal team before that was a thing.

No, Fizer came to ISU out of high school. He was a Floyd recruit, though. They went way back. Floyd's wife was a care-giver for Fizer's grandmother when he was a little kid.
Willoughby, Shawn Bankhead, Kenny Pratt and Kelvin Cato were all transfers that Floyd brought in. He (Floyd) inherited a very talented but virtually all-senior squad from Johnny Orr: Hoiberg, Beechum, Meyer, Michalik were senior.
In fairness, Michalik was a senior in third grade.
In other words, he looked 40 once he got into junior high.
Ah. I was a little slow on that one.
Haven't heard much about him recently. He married a girl he met at ISU and was teaching in a SW Iowa high school, then was badly hurt in a car accident.
I think of Larry Morgan/Mac McCausland calling games on (what channel was broadcasting back then?) when I hear these names. RIP Dedric.
Yeah, I knew a guy who had him as a teacher. Didn’t know about the accident. I hope he is well today.
Does anyone actually know what caused his death? 49 is way to young. I remember he and some other clown players came to my high school and played some alumni in a charity game when I was a little tike. I remember him and Cato.

Heart attack at a young age after playing pickup basketball. Same thing that killed Barry Stevens and Pete Marovich.
