COMMIT: Iowa lands 2026 Three-Star QB, Cash Herrera

I fully understand Kirk is a great guy..a guy that builds good relationships with players, player’s families, and coaches.

But that has only gotten us so far. His philosophy is outdated. His conservative nature doesn’t equate to much more than “we’ve beaten Nebraska 7 of the last 8.”

We have started the process of not even being competitive with the upper tier of just this conference alone.
I certainly understand your view, BUT lets just really look at the big picture, or B1G picture if you prefer. Other then a few years in the 50's just when has Iowa EVER been competitive with Michigan and OSU? A few years under Fry, (kind of), and a few years under Kirk. I mean this is nothing new for Iowa, or really ANY of the other B1G schools and will only get somewhat harder now. Will we beat them occassionally? One would hope. Are we or any of the other teams in somewhat similar demographics of our league ever be "competitive" with the big 2 on a sustained basis? As fans we can all hope for such, but it hasn't happened in the last 70 years of B1G football....

He hasn't been stellar. But he's on his 3rd offensive coordinator, has been injured, and as a result of the injury unable to play during Spring ball. He's allowed to get better as the season progresses too. So maybe hold off on the verdict of whether he's a good or bad QB for now.
I’m sorry, but I think the 5th year senior has played enough for us to render an opinion.

Cash Herrara's Bishop School won 50-0 versus Escondido Charter HS. FYI, Bishops has a RB committed to Notre Dame. A nice 1-2 punch.

You know there's probably a 35% chance that he never takes a meaningful snap in an Iowa uniform, right?

35%? You're joking right? This kid will never play QB at Iowa. All the monkeys on this board getting all juiced up over this 3-star California HS QB. Another kid that will come in and sit around for a year or so...and then be gone.

Lots of time between now and signing day. Between Elite 11 camp and good tape his senior year, might be a tough one to keep in the fold.

Every pass he threw was a floater. There was no zip at all. Nor was there any defense on the recievers. Not judging just commenting.
I'd say that a lot depends on context. You want your QB to have touch and accuracy. When a guy throws out on the edge ... then sure, you want the ball to have zip and be on a rope then. Other cases, you want to make it so that you give your WR every chance to get the ball.

He flicks the ball out with lots of wrist , quick delivery, throws a lot like throwing a baseball, plenty of arm on the Kid especially in the offense Iowa runs .

When you say when has (other than the few seasons in the 50's) Iowa "EVER" been competitive with Michigan or OSU and then mention both Fry and Ferentz each had a few years (Iowa was pretty dominant in the 80's) and I believe Ferentz has had 3-4 years of top 10 finishes, it kind of takes the steam out of your argument. But I do agree, Iowa will not likely ever be consistently at the same level as those two blue bloods.

I think your last sentence is what I'm referring to. Both Fry and Kirk during their best years were able to compete to a degree, especially when Michigan was in a bot of a struggle finding the right coach for a few years. Aside from that we've never really bee able to compete consistently, especially with OSU, and neither has anyone else in the conference.....

You are right and they were all the correct ball to throw. That defense he was playing against looked... small? Slow?

Either way, good timing on the throws.

I like that he can flick or whip the ball from various angles vs a stiff statue type delivery.
