Conference Breakdown After Round 1

As I suspected, the NCAA jokers over-rated the PAC - 12. To only have 2 wins in 8 games, during the first round, says it all there.

And.........I'm liking this re-match with Villanova. You can argue that Iowa has beaten more
Top 25 teams than Villanova. Iowa has no pressure, because Nova is the higher seed.
Iowa needs to remain poised and play the tough, hustling defense, inside and out that worked to Shut down MSU, earlier this season.

One would think Iowa is more than overdue to have a game in which they shoot lights out. Better shot selection would help. Let's hope Sunday is the day Iowa finds their January form.

Good posts. Classy fans over here, much like at villanova. I like it.

How many wins does Iowa have over teams still standing?

Nova only has 6. If the push on the back foul had been called yesterday and Temple was still standing that would make it 7.

I have nothing but respect for Villanova and the Big East. I'm honestly surprised how good the Big East has been this year. And yes, I picked up on your sarcasm, I'm just not impressed and not going to respond in kind.

There have been a few classy Villanova fans who have posted here. You just aren't one of them.

Raise your right hand if you think the B1G will send any teams to the Sweet 16. Then raise your left hand if you think that more than one B1G team will advance to the Sweet 16.

Personally, I think Maryland will eek by Hawaii but it will be a dogfight. I think that Wisco and Indiana lose and I am not particularly hopeful that Iowa can beat Villanova.

I had Michigan State in the Final Four. I also had Baylor and West Virginia advancing to next week. Obviously, like many, I suck at picking these games. So who knows what will happen this weekend.

I do think, though, that Indiana and Kentucky should be a great game.

Well I think there are several million of us who suck at picking games this year. :)

I hope the ACC does not send all 6 to sweet 16, ESPN and Dickie V would be unbearable.

I think you are probably correct.

The NCAA changed it so the play in games are actually play in games, So the 1st round is the 1st and 2nd is 2nd.

And I still believe they count. A win over a fellow 11 seed is no easy task. Also believe CBS counted them in their conference breakdown.

The ACC could send 6 teams to the Sweet 16 and the toughest seeded team that ACC teams would have beaten is #7 Dayton. Not only did the committee give them favorable seeding but the brackets have broken favorably for them as well.

That written, unlike the other conferences, the ACC hasn't crapped their pants against "inferior" opponents.

Wins in the newly dubbed "First Four" games are deemed to be NCAA tournament victories.

The committee tee'ed it up nicely for the acc.

How many wins does Iowa have over teams still standing? That was a serious question.

You don't get to count play in game wins. Come on, don't be silly.

Big east will be happy to have 2 teams standing on monday. Both games today are long shots, and we all know a 2 v 7 game can go either way.

Keep it classy guys

Yes, First Four games count since they are--like it or not--part of the NCAA tournament. It's a 68-team field. It starts with the First Four and ends with the Final Four. It's not really that complicated.

The original post just gave records, it didn't say first round records.

Of course play in wins count. Why wouldn't they? If a win over number 11 is so easy, go see all the double digit seeds that beat single digit seeds.

No, play in games don't count. They aren't first round games. They are play in games. As in, the teams are trying to play themselves in to the tournament.

You don't get rewarded by doing so poorly that you have to play an extra game to get into the tournament (play in game).

And that is why I don't bet on sports. IU continues to surprise me.

Big East- 4-1
B1G- 4-3
Big XII- 3-4
Pac12- 2-6

Be forewarned ... some joker who calls himself MeetTheFerentz may call you pretentious and a douche for not including the SEC in your conference analysis.

I said on here two days ago I thought the SEC was terrible and that IU would win.

Maryland will beat Hawaii and it wouldn't surprise me if Iowa or Wisconsin won but I wouldn't bet on it either.
