The game against Maryland was won by a quarterback
playing on one leg. The coaches have said that he is
not at 100%, in fact he may be closer to 70%. Beathard
is playing with grit and guts. I applaud his efforts. today.
He still passed for 183 yards and had a minus 14 yds rushing.

Bottom LIne: Beathard is a leader who will not let Iowa lose.

Hoping he can get healthier each week and still be able to win so he is healthy in our biggest games when we will need everything that beathard has.

With time, which CJ is not afforded with this O-line, Rudock's throws are much better. Given time is the key, Rudock's is horrible at moving in the pocket and dealing with pressure. Just saying CJ's throws have been ugly, the stats prove it, he needs to stop throwing darts and use some touch. Iowa doesn't have passing game, but somehow CJ is legend. Don't give me the groin thing. Does he have a never healing injury or are they not telling us what it is?

You lost me at Rudock's throws are much better. I'm assuming you're a horrible trolll. Either that or you're an actual Iowa fan with an IQ below 60. If Rudock were quarterbacking this team we'd have several losses right now.

What an idiotic post.

I'm not going to be rude, but CJ's throws have been "off" only since his injury. He was inconsistent with accuracy in the first half because he wasn't able to really turn his hips like he'd normally be able to and step into throws. Even with the injury, though, he made throws Rudock was never able to make when completely healthy (not knocking Rudock--he is who he is). But when CJ scrambled late in the first half he came up hobbling quite a bit worse again and he didn't make many throws at all after that--only 2 in the second half. Obviously the coaches were protecting him and that's why Iowa ran the ball so much even with MD lining up 9 or ten guys in the box. Even with a one-dimensional offense, Iowa still one the game handily. Helps to have a stout defense in such situations, but with a healthy Beatherd, the game today would have been a total blowout. Iowa will be fine as long as CJ can play at least as well as he did in the first half before he strained his groin again.

Rudock left the game late in the 4th Q yesterday and had 140 yards passing.

CJ had 160 yards passing in the first half.

On the season Jake has 6 TD's and 7 INT's for a 120.3 qb rating.

CJ has 9 TD's and 3 INT's for 135.2 qb rating. while playing injured in 6 out of the 8 games....

"Congrats to Beathard With Only One Leg". Am I the only one who thinks the thread title is oddly worded? Why wouldn't you congratulate Beathard with both legs? ... or both legs and your heart as well?:p

I like to keep all of my congratulations two-legged, myself, but to each his own.

He has difficulty throwing due to the injury, which grows harder and harder to heal becuase, well, because he keeps playing on it.

Pass protection has been slow to develop. This is true. You can see improvement week to week however. I thought a huge jump was made between Illinois and NwN.

One of his sacks yesterday, he intentionally took. And it was a smart sack to have taken given what he faced.

This isn't a perfect Iowa team. There have been teams with more talent, and less mistakes, but to have criticism about our offensive line given how green they really are is largely misplaced.

He does have a point about one area of offensive line play, but with respect to the rest, he is entitled to his opinion, whether facts back it up or otherwise.

If we go up 21 to nothing at the half next week, I would be surprised if we do not see Wiegers. yes he is young, but he is taking the majority of snaps with the 1st string offense and you have to think he will be good enough (soon) to take the reigns when needed,

You must have missed the Pittsburgh game. That is when the injury occured.
He tweaked his left hip against Pitt and the groin injury came against Illinois. Possible it was a groin all along and the Illinois game made it worse. It wasn't until yesterday that it really looked like he was playing injury in that it affected his throwing.

I'm just hoping he can continue to get a little healthier each week. We really need his scrambling ability to keep plays alive.
