Conner's shooting

It's quite a revelations, a three point specialist! That almost sounds like a oxymoron...

I think we are seeing a pretty healthy Connor for the first time in several seasons as well. I'm glad he came back. He provides on the court experience for that second group and I'd trust him to come in and play shut down defense down the stretch in games in the Big Ten as well.

He will get some solid minutes as we are not particularly deep. His 3 point shooting makes him so dangerous! +ball handling, FT shooting, defense, passing, leadership
I'm looking for crow specials for Thanksgiving. I was in the don't come back camp at the end of last season. With the way he is shooting and playing this season, I'm sure glad he's a member of the team now.

Using much better form, so the ball will go in more often.

Higher release. Better arch. More compact stroke. Staying square to the basket. Not drifting to the side.

Senior confidence and urgency. Super senior wisdom.

Should be a solid season from 3 for Connor
Yep, you can tell he's confident in his stroke because he isn't hesitating as much.

when have we ever been able to say we don't expect Conner to miss? LOL
wasn't too long ago we knew the minute it went up there was no chance of a a make. It's just uncanny how it's totally reversed . Hope he keeps it going.

I'm no expert, but his form looks MUCH better to me. He is squaring up to the basket before shooting, I think in the past he has almost been sideways when launching, which also contributes to a low arch.

The other thing you cannot underestimate is his health. I think it took Jbo two years to come back to full strength from his hip surgeries and I think we are seeing the same thing in Connor. He shot a respectable 34% in 2019-2020 and reverted back to that at the end of last year. 2020-21 was just a horrendous shooting year for him, which is when he started having hip problems.

On Oct 5th, during Media Day, Fran said Connor was in more basketball shape since he is now both healthy & 100% focused on one sport. Fran said that Connor was shooting the ball really well.

So, it should be no surprise that over one month later Connor is playing well and shooting the ball well.

And Connor is clearly a great leader, both on and off the court. He knows all 5 positions and knows where everyone should be.

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports for the last couple of seasons has called Connor a glue guy. Perfect description.

Connor won't be in the starting 5 but he'll be one of the 5 to close out games

We only have a 9 man rotation now (it could go up to 10 if Ogundele is needed in spot minutes). Imagine if Josh Dix weren't ready yet and if Connor had decided to not come back this season. We'd be in a world of hurt. Instead, we are a top 25 team in the country.

Posted this in a thread on another board, but:
  • Connor playing very well, as he has been. Since the PSU game on 1/31/22 of last season, Connor is 24/49 from 3 (49%). For his entire college career prior to that point, he was 62/217 (28.6%). How that transformation happened is beyond me, as fixing your outside shot that much is usually very, very difficult at his age and for how many college, HS and AAU games he's already played.

The ball really moves when Connor is on the floor. He is a very good and willing passer. Love seeing that ball snap like that.
