Yes, this topic is about Connor and his much-maligned jump shot. I just took a look at his high school tape and the kid had smoother jump shot and, unsurprisingly, hit the three at a 40% clip.

I take a look at his jump shot now and it is different—a weird hitch to it and no arch. So what went wrong/or what is different from high school to now? My hypothesis is that he gained too much bulk, especially in his upper body, and too quickly. Someone posted a photo of him towards the beginning of the year and the difference is significant. From my own personal experience, let me tell you - I had a mean pull-up jumper for all my life and then I packed on about 30 lbs of muscle in the past year (brag). Now I can't hit crap during pick-up games and can physically feel a difference when I shoot a basketball. Does this go back to coaching/mismanagement of weight training? Let us remember when Fran openly admitted to mismatching Basabe's sophomore weight gain.

This summer, Connor needs to get with a shooting coach, rework his form, and just shoot 3's all summer. If not, he's losing minutes to Toussaint and we'll only be seeing Connor in the outfield.

Thanks for listening to my TedTalk, friends.

Not sure if/how his jumper has evolved, but I replayed our last meeting on Nov. 30 against Wisky last night and Connor's short-range jumper looked really good. Like to see him get a few tonight, especially driving in the paint. Maybe a little step-back "kiss" off the glass. "Onions!"

I also wanna say that I think Connor is a baller and brings some elite skills (e.g. passing) and other intangibles. But the defenses have learned to sag off him.

I wonder if his dad has been tooo hard on him. Putting him on edge to not shoot. Then he over thinks when he does have the chance to shoot. Just my opinion...

If CMac cannot figure out how to shoot, and make the darn shot, then he needs to ride the bench. He is simply ineffective..regardless of his assist to TO ratio.

He will struggle to shoot it at this level until he gets the ball off the palm of his hand and learns to play at a faster pace. It is a lot easier to shoot in high school when the game is a lot slower.

He was open on multiple occasions. OPEN. As in I could have taken a shot.... He needs to figure out his shot. End of subject.

Or not...? I have to wonder if he(or the whole team) has mental fatigue from playing for his dad? Not necessarily in a negative way. But rather Fran teaches/preaches so much, that doing exactly as he has planned is causing frustration, and thus a sort of paranoia of F'ing up. So much so that he thinks of it every time he has a chance to shoot...? And does Not shoot...when he could.

Maybe Fran needs to get back to the basics. And use the KISS method for a while.

Thoughts?

I do want to say, I am putting down Connor.... But I am nagging!

I'll give Speraw credit for sitting his ass most of the second half. Fran would have continued playing him like despite all the turnovers and NO offense. Ugliest shot I've ever seen.

Connor needs to focus on baseball. He has no shot of playing basketball after college. Just play baseball and open up. Scholly for someone who can contribute.

Say what!? You do realize that Fran could pay his & PMac's way??? And we/Fran could have TWO more players on scholarship for next season. Instead he is giving his kids scholarships!?! Argh...

....just imagine....with those 2 extra schollies, we could have 2 bigger, quicker guards... D'oh!

His needs to Stop throwing bounce passes to the post from 3 point arch

My god i think he still thinks he is in high school

Not easy being the coaches kid, it brings a different kind of pressure and expectation.

He should just focus on baseball.
