Connor is #1 in the Nation

Beat on backdoor cuts is so repetitive with this team. Why does this keep happening and why don't they make adjustments?

Connor up to #18 in the Big 10 in Bart Torvik's player efficiency metric. This year he's a good player and has a serious case to be on one of the All Conference teams.

Are you the same Bryce bashing Connor on cryclown fanatic saying he shouldn’t have played until this year?

Weird how obsessed clown fans are with bashing the McCaffery kids.

To put that in perspective, the two best assist guys in NBA history (John Stockton and Jason Kidd) had assist to turnover ratios of 3.72 and 3.02. Not saying Connor is on their level at an NBA perspective but those are some lofty numbers he is putting up.

It's a good A/TO ratio but his usage rate is very low and he's not the primary ballhandler. It's a little different scenario with him.

He's feeding the players so well, too, where they are able to get a good shot off.

Some of those passes last night were incredible; you'd think maybe one or 2 might lead to a turnover. Nope. ;)

Not really with how the Iowa Motion Offense flows. While there is a PG position that doesn’t mean the offense flows from them. When Connor has been on the floor he has been more directly involved distributing the ball and passing than any of the PG’s on the floor at the same time.

I love Connor, but to call him a solid defender is a stretch.
Calling anyone on this team a defensive stopper is a stretch for that matter.
However anyone who has any basketball IQ knows CM brings alot of intangibles to the table.'
He's absolutely the toughest player on the team, and most likely the most intelligent.
He would make a great assistant coach after his playing days are done.
”Solid defender” != “defensive stopper”

While we are on the topic of my son, I am thinking of adding him to the staff next season at $500,000 a year.

Thoughts?

;)
Obvious troll is obvious, but in all seriousness, I could see Connor being a fantastic coach down the road. Outside of maybe a GA year at Iowa or something, he’d be best served by going out and forging his own path, though.

If I'm the AD at UNI or Drake I'm offering him an assistant position as we speak and see where he goes from there.

If my math is right, Connor could turn the ball over 55 times without another assist and still be the all-time Iowa ATR leader.

yeah, it will be interesting to see where Connor lands

hate to say it, but I bet he's an Iowa grad assistant

Regarding Conner becoming a coach: I think he is extremely defensive minded. Hard nosed, smart, high energy, active, and anticipates. If he’s late or gets beat, it’s because of physical limitations (or he’s typically asked to guard any of the 5 positions too which is a TOUGH draw), not because of effort or defensiveness focus and awareness. I am in the camp that he’s a good (not great) defender/ player. But as a coach, he may be a great defensive coach.

I’m a big fan overall, btw. Especially now that he has improved his 3 pt shooting so much. Hard work and healthy. If I had one thing I wish he did differently would be keeping composure and not complaining as much - but easy for me to say from my couch.

He seems to be seriously interested in that aspect of the game as well,... With time and experience, I think he could pull it off..

I don’t mind him starting at Iowa as a GA, but if he’s really going to become successful, he’ll need to forge out on his own after that. He has a whole life of his dad’s philosophies - go out and learn from some different voices.

check this out & watch:

That’s strong. People giving Connor credit on D are not saying he could go 1-1 and shut down high end players. What they’re saying is that he’ll hustle, he’ll anticipate, he won’t be afraid of contact and he’ll give effort. Sure, he has his short-comings athletically, whether that’s against quality bigs or smaller/quicker players, but he is fundamentally sound.

I would feel much more confident with Connor eventually taking over the basketball program as HC than Brian doing the same for football.
The aboutface hawk fans have made regarding CMac is possibly encouraging. If you produce...iowa fans are fair and bury the hatchet in short order.
Maybe there is hope for a comeback for BF?
If they produce?

There will be a segment who don’t come back for CMac or BF no matter what, but I think most fans see things for what they are. Connor’s career arc is actually pretty fascinating.
