Conservatives, why is CPAC going to Hungary?

They were reacting to a national emergency and all of those decrees are gone now. They are no where remotely the same. But false equivalencies is all you have to debate with here I guess.
Are hungarys decrees still in place? Linked article is 2 years old.

Do you consider Putin a dictator?
Hmm that’s a good question. I would say him and FDR are similar. One was successful, the other not so much. It’s easy hurling insults from afar, but a lot of these other countries are just not split down the middle like we are.

"A notorious Hungarian racist who has called Jews “stinking excrement”, referred to Roma as “animals” and used racial epithets to describe Black people, was a featured speaker at a major gathering of US Republicans in Budapest.

Zsolt Bayer took the stage at the second day of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Hungary, a convention that also featured speeches from Donald Trump, Fox News host Tucker Carlson, and Trump’s former White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows.

The last featured speaker of the conference was Jack Posobiec, a far-right US blogger who has used antisemitic symbols and promoted the fabricated “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory smearing prominent Democrats as pedophiles.

Bayer, a television talkshow host in Hungary, has been widely denounced for his racism. During the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, he wrote on his blog: “Is this the future? Kissing the dirty boots of f'ing [racist epithet] and smiling at them? Being happy about this? Because otherwise they’ll kill you or beat you up?”

In 2011, he used the phrase “stinking excrement” to refer generically to Jews in England, and in 2013 wrote: “a significant part of the Roma are unfit for coexistence. They are not fit to live among people. These Roma are animals and they behave like animals.”

When he was awarded the Hungarian order of merit in 2016 by the country’s nationalist prime minister, Viktor Orbán, the star speaker on the first day of CPAC Hungary on Thursday, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum protested, saying it “reflects the longstanding refusal of the leadership of Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party to distance itself from Bayer, in spite of Bayer’s repeated pattern of racist, xenophobic, antisemitic, and anti-Roma incitement”.

At the CPAC event on Friday, he appeared on stage with a prominent rightwing Hungarian screenwriter talking about gender issues. Bayer focused on deriding Calvin Klein for political correctness, comparing a 2009 ad featuring a white supermodel, whom Bayer called “a very hot woman”, with a 2019 ad featuring the Black rapper Chika who he described as “not so hot”, adding: “it’s clear that this ad was born under the aegis of Black Lives Matter”.

Addressing the conference by video shortly before Bayer’s appearance, Trump poured compliments on Orbán, who was recently elected for a fourth term as prime minister.

“He is a great leader, a great gentleman, and he just had a very big election result. I was very honored to endorse him,” Trump said."

To answer your question OP.

Cons are going to Hungary to visit with other Putin funded lackeys in a safe space to further their autocratic, anti-democracy agenda.

It should be an intelligence bonanza for US and Euro intel communities.

Record everything, document everything. Start untangling their funding sources.

Expose every traitor that participates in undermining the USA.

They don't.

Rigged elections do not count. It's why Putin's been in power for over a decade.
If Biden and Harris did this, you'd absolutely lose your shit.
Rigged? How are they rigged? Just because Hungarians aren’t interested in the left doesn’t make them rigged.

if Biden/Harris did this, states would secede. Game over. The glaring hole in your conspiracy theory that you still can’t jump over.

LOL. Yeah. It's the "left" that lies. Ok Trumpbagger.
Not an trump supporter. Thanks for proving my point. See Russia Conspiracy in 2016 and Hunter Laptop in 2020. Two massive lies orchestrated by the left wing media, now glossed over as some inconsequential mistakes. Truly a disgrace.

Yeah, whatever. Sure you aren't. You just defend every lamebrained idea he and his minions come up with. But you aren't a Trump supporter. Just saying you aren't a Trump supporter doesn't mean anything when you support every other thing he stands for. Again, it's not the left that is lying all the time. You won't even be honest with yourself.

Not supporting and refusing to believe propaganda from the left are two very different things. My personal favorite was the hit piece from the NYT about Trump and his real estate businesses. They outlined standard strategies that every real estate developer worth a damn employs to make $ and pretended like it was some groundbreaking journalism. Idiots on the left with no understanding of the private sector spew this nonsense frequently.

Putin and Saddam Hussein had elections.
If Hungarians aren’t interested in socialism, good for them. Maybe moderates should challenge him. Just more evidence that states should retain their powers in the US.

So you are claiming that most real estate developers engage in shady deals. I actually believe that. It doesn't make it ok or legal. It sounds like there needs to be stricter regulations on them.

???????? Those folks won by fear and intimidation. They crushed any sign of dissent. This stuff isn't new.
Get some dumb followers who believe they benefit off what the fearless leader is doing. And go from there flower.

My personal favorite is how he tried to extort Ukraine for election help on false pretenses; then when that didn't work tried to overturn an election on fake "voter fraud" claims and attempted to overrun the Capitol to get his fake Electoral ballots.

But you seem to think that's "no big deal" here.

Again, research what the left did to that country twice in the last 40 years. It’s a counterbalance that’s going to happen when the left robs a country blind and ruins its institutions and traditions. Sound familiar? Look at the shit show currently happening in DC when the Dems are running things. Neither far right nor far left will ever work anywhere, especially here.

Link to me saying NBD? I’ve already said I wouldn’t vote for him, and countered the few morons left on here that think it’s a good idea. Laughing at your circle thread that spews some Tom Clancy conspiracy is not excusing him, just pointing out how ridiculous your reactions and reasoning is.

The right has robbed the country blind believing in trickle down economics. And deficits don't matter. So u can point fingers at the left all u want. But both parties share a ton of blame. Or reward considering the USA still has it better than most any place on Earth.

"The Left"?

It's "authoritarians", bro. Autocrats.
Irrespective of whatever political "labels" they want to use.

You're clearly no "independent", because when someone "left" does something you don't like, it is "terrible". When someone on the right does it, you engage in "whataboutisms" and claim it's "not that bad".

BS. The standard of living in this country is incredibly better than before reaganomics and the ability of people to better themselves has never been stronger. Too many people overspend, have no drive, and look for handouts.

Not remotely.
Again, believe what you like, I really don’t care. You’ve displayed how partisan you are in the Covid threads where you spread disinformation to people on here and pretend you’re qualified to do so.

Hungary’s response to the pandemic is especially alarming. On March 30, the Hungarian parliament voted to allow Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to rule by decree indefinitely, giving him dictatorial powers for at least the foreseeable future. Orbán can suspend existing laws or enact new ones—all with de facto parliamentary approval and without a known end date. The law also criminalizes spreading false or distorted facts that interfere with the public safety or are “suitable for alarming or agitating” the public, crimes punishable by several years in prison. Concerningly, this language is vague enough to cover anyone who challenges the government’s preferred narratives and handling of the coronavirus. With lower courts already suspended and the path to the Constitutional Court unclear, it’s difficult to envision the legislation being challenged. As legal sociologist Kim Lane Scheppele writes in the Hungarian Spectrum, Orbán’s “emergency gives him everything he ever dreamed of: The absolute freedom to do what he wants.”

Such sweeping measures did not unfold overnight. For Hungary, the coronavirus has accelerated a decade-long democratic crisis, during which Orbán has gradually consolidated his power and weaponized rhetoric to emphasize an ethnic Hungarian identity, target vulnerable groups, and dismantle the institutions responsible both for protecting those groups and for checking executive power—ultimately transforming Hungary into an illiberal state.

Sounds like what some want in Amerika...

The standard of living always goes up. It's called progress. Lots of people used to shit outdoors before Regan too. There also wasn't an information revolution.
But the standard of living has been traded off for the need of two income households. And a greater wealth gap. Reaganomics good or bad has help hollow out the middle class. Corporations are a tool not the overlord.

The wealth gap is simply a consequence of something they don’t teach in universities: getting rich legally is hard work. Always has been. Wealthy families obviously start in better positions than most, but with the right drive, any qualified individual can build a nice portfolio with hard work.

They can’t be idiots though 🤷‍♂️. Sorry, thanks for playing. The world isn’t easy, but it’s a hell of a lot better now than 100 years ago for 99.99% of this country.

Hey, I'm well off. But I know how the game is played in Argo business. Get a ton of money to sell corn to fill up ethanol subsidies. And have a subcontractor hire farm labor. So u can claim ignorance when it's mostly illegals working the land.
That's the way it's become to maintain a major operation. Most of the smaller farmers have been forced to either play the game or cash rent.
