So here's the thing that so many on both sides fail to see. You see only what offends you which is only that which the other side commits. Toss aside the fact that he stands up there and spews lie after lie. The fact that the leader of your team stands up there in a joint session of Congress and calls Biden the worst President in history and a member of Congress Pocahontas while his VP laughs and the speaker smirks doesn't give you pause? I can't imagine another President doing that and yet you are offended when the other side doesn't stand up and applaud?
My guess is no. People don't want to unify. We're better at hating each other than loving each other. I know I am. Bolded tells me where you're at.

I have no problem with people sitting for his political junk. But sitting when someone's daughters are killed and Acts that are put in her name. That's way too far and unforgivable. Last year (to their credit, which doesn't happen much), the Republicans stood and clapped for the honorary guests.
There’s a time and a place for everything. Prop act or not, you do not NOT stand and show your support and respect for a little boy battling cancer in a moment like last night. Bad look for the democrats, and it adds to the list of reasons why Trump won.
That said, I did not vote for Trump nor do I think his style of leadership is helping matters. BUT, I’m always of the belief that you give a president time to see if his policies and leadership are effective. I’m not going to judge everything on just 6-7 weeks being in office.
The issue is America has been so great as a country comparatively, that people no longer have real problems and hardships. We have culture now that looks for things to complain about and be offended over. The biggest threat we have as a country is our debt and deficit spending and the continuation of a godless society.
I’m not even sure something as awful as what I think you are describing would unify. It seems insane to me that we are split over Putin and Hamas.
We already had that. It was called COVID and instead of going along with the efforts to prevent the spread and unify around what our doctors and medical scientists asked us to do the right went into conspiracy theories and screamed about their freedumbs.
This is why I left my ballot for President blank.

There is hardly a bigger villain on the world stage than Vladimir Putin and yet one side seems to have embraced him.
Systemic rot has become the order of the day.
But I’m not certain that a majority of Americans outside of DC aren’t somewhat unified in a majority of issues and we get along everyday.
Social media is a serious poison that creates a false narrative where we hate each other and are constantly fighting among ourselves over everything. Not so.
I had a great Political Science Professor who always stressed that as citizens we are bound to look at important issues and to source multiple sources of information, to make reasoned considerations about that issue and to reach our own decisions. Back then the sources were print, television and radio broadcasts of news. Think about the myriad ways we get our information today and how that ability has affected our ability to hear different perspectives from a group or one on one interaction- done in a respectful way.
We don’t HAVE to be “unified” and march in lockstep on everything (who here still has their “little red book” anyway?) but we just need to discuss, think, and accept the majority decision - while continuing to hold our own views.
