Crap Flo Stream?

Cut out for me about 10 times during the semis tonight. About 30 seconds each time. I'm not even too mad about. I'm impressed really. That's really good for Flo... They set the bar pretty low for themselves this college wrestling season.

I have found it best to just go to the results page and not really plan on watching any of the matches live.

Flo is reading this (just like they read this forum to create articles), were is their comment?

Why would they comment on something that most likely they have nothing to do with? Although they occasionally have streaming issues, most of the time people are complaining it probably has nothing to do with FLO.

I watched via my FLO app on Roku last night and had less reloads than I have had with my ESPN app watching the NFL draft. Does FLO somehow magically pipe their stream faster and more continuously to me????

Issues with choppiness and occasionally interruptions most likely fall at the feet of your ISP, no matter what the delivery speed they claim.

Highly recommended - when you are experiencing choppiness, change the resolution (HD button in the lower right corner) to a fixed resolution - the lower the resolution the less interruptions in your stream.

Serious? It is FLo's problem. Not my provider.

I also streamed on my laptop last night and had no problems. It worked great.

The camera work on the other hand was not very good.

When certain Mat streams do not work, it is not the service provider.
The semis were on Mat 5 and Mat 7 last night. They worked fine. The other mats did not work - is that what you are complaining about?

Or are you complaining about one of the 18 or 24 or 16 (whatever the event is) mat streams going down occasionally??? I run a large tournament that is streamed, and managing our technology is one of my duties - come to think of it we've never had one of our 15 computers go to sleep, somebody inadvertently pull out a plug, ethernet cable or bang into a camera - EVER. ;)

Streams are total garbage today. Shat is getting old. Maybe they should worry about servicing the users they have instead of trying to go into 30 new markets and spreading themselves thin.

I had no issues yesterday but I can't get mat 1 or 2 to load today...freaking gets old is all.

The wonderful world of technology. Flocasts says it's not their fault and so does the households internet provider.

Now what do you do.......

Does Dan Gable have internet at his farm?

It was working mostly ok in the afternoon (ocassional freezeups but I could tolerate it), but now its horrible and I can't access anything for more than a few fleeting seconds and then I get booted out again and again. I don't think FLO ever fixed their server issues and of course a lot of people want to watch Burroughs Dake and the finals matches. Yikes!

If you are a glutton for punishment give your household internet provider a call especially if your hearing is becoming suspect.

I wish I could get to the crappy streams. 2 months ago the web page to sign in stopped working. I've written to them 8 times with no results. All I get is questions from a bunch of whack-a-doodles. I answer the questions but they have no problem tracking system so my answers go to a different person every time. How their entire site does not collapse is a mystery.

Mine worked ok. A few hiccups but mostly good coverage for me.

I don't think Willie has anything to do with the poor live stream, but I hope this thread makes this week's FRL "hot or not" segment.

On my flight back home.

just able to check in to the boards now.

apologies to those who experienced problems. our internal numbers/report show 14% failure rate last night for about 7 minutes. it hovered around 4% there after. of course - no % of failure is acceptable. and, of course, i can't speak intelligently on tech problems (i'm a wrestling writer, not an IT/infrastructure guy) so i won't pretend to.

all i know is that for those 14% whose streams were down, it was a server issue (at the peak).

for those whose streams were choppy, as Dice said above, changing the resolution settings almost always does the trick.

just to note - i'm not answering here to make excuses. i know it's frustrating. frustrating for us too. we're always trying to get better.

and i know some of you will rip me for the answer above, but i didn't want to ignore the thread. so...let 'er rip.

I for one appreciate your candor Willie. I would assume that Flo's IT dept has server availability to meet a theoretical peak demand plus a safety factor, so these server issues are disconcerting. Even if you do have availability and it was simply a server going down, system redundancy should be there to bring a new server back up. Maybe that is what happened?

As for the 4%, are you suggesting that this number is your typical background failure rate, or was this too an anomaly? What is Flo's goal in 6 months, a year, two years for this type of failure rate? It's a serious issue for customer satisfaction as you are well aware. I typically drop streaming channels that buffer too much. While it appears that the consumer can influence the buffering issue by changing resolution, is that something Flo really wants long term? I'd think not, and I hope Flo isn't counting on that as the fix to the problem. What is the fix from Flo?

Mat 5 during semis was not working for me. Had to watch Flozone to try and catch the action on mat 5.

Roku app was even more unreliable this weekend.

FM - can you email me - willie@flosports.tv

Was anyone else getting the random rewind thing on Mat 5 during the finals? Whenever I would put Mat 5 on it would repeatedly go to previous matches. When I would slide the bar to the right to force it to live action again it would just go back to a previous match after 30 seconds.

That is what was happening when I was trying to watch Colbray's match. That was a later consi round

I had used the lowest resolution settings (constantly cleared out cookies, cache, closed out all other windows and tried watching just one screen) and still had problems almost the entire evening session on Saturday. Surprisingly, the Burroughs/Dake match was one of the few evening matches that I was able to watch for the entirety. Friday and Saturday morning for the most part was ok (though I got an unwelcome request to relogin just as a match important to me was starting along with occasional freeze-ups). A family member who lives in another state said he had issues too during the Saturday evening session. I also wasn't able to access FloArena on the Saturday evening session to know who was wrestling on what match. I would suspect the numbers of people who had glitchy service on Saturday night was significantly higher than what FLO claims. While I'm glad Willie acknowledges there was a problem, I'm not buying the 14% and seven minutes figures at all.
