Crazy to think that Hilton & Carver are located in the same state!

We could turn it into Crisler Area with some renovation work...

They have the same wide aisles that HCA has but that walkway 20 rows up makes it much more fan friendly. The break in the seating would allow students to stand up below the walkway, while those with tickets above the walkway would not be obstructed. Concession and bathrooms could be built off the walkway and under the upper seats. $$$ I'm sure but Iowa is not going to move or build a new arena downtown. Ever...
Great ideas. I would add they put in Sky boxes for the high rollers. They could make bank with those. But with the BIG money rolling in.I don't think they care about BB attendance. They get those butts for wrestling.

Honestly, while I hate watching so many people start climbing the stairs with so much time left in the game - and to be fair, at least some will then watch from the concourse; this does expose maybe the biggest design flaw of Carver….there’s only a long way up to the concourse to exit the arena. They would have been better off creating the gates a la Kinnick where those exits are roughly halfway between the top and bottom of the stands.

imo, they also screwed up when they chose a major renovation of Carver a few years back instead of starting brand-new and learning from Carvers flaws.
Another big problem is the aisles. All of them go from the top all the way to the floor, so we end up with too much space close to the court occupied by stairs. If there was a concourse somewhere about 15-18 rows up, we could have fewer aisles going to the choice seats and thus have more choice seats. On tv it looks terrible. Instead of a sea of fans, we have a few fans wedged between a lot of stairs.

Yes. Kinda crazy to think that it was lauded as one of the best new arenas at the time, but definitely hasn’t aged well in reality.

I think it's kind of weird that nobody is acknowledging how inconvenient it was that no fans were allowed in what was Frans best regular season by a good margin. Does anyone really not think Carver would have been pretty rowdy the year the hawks were ranked in the top 10 all year and had the NPOY???

That was really bad luck, I would have traveled the 800 miles back to IC. I think the fact they crapped the bed in March even with luka and a 2 seed and how Fran handled the off season gutted the enthusiasm this fan base. The "if he can't do it that year he'll never do it" mentality is very real.

But I know shitting on the fans, building and refs is what a lot of people will do at zero accountability U. BAU. Carry on I guess

Garza deserves a full house

Carver not the issue...not perfect but not the issue. Change the season ticket seating and get the students closer to the floor with a football/basketball season ticket package. Add in a little more excitement from the PA announcer and let it rip. Until the seating and student issue is fixed it's going to be hard to change.

I feel the same. Best team since at least the ‘06 team that lost to NW St which went undefeated at home. Could have built some real momentum with the fan base, and who knows how much of that carries over to this year?
