Critical US pipeline shutdown by a cyber attack.

There was a time when pipelines and power grids/generation stations were operated without the use of the internet. It’s obvious that cyber security has its limitations, at some point we may have to decide if the present mode of operating these systems is worth the benefits.

More and more I think we had everything we’d ever need in 1995. Which makes me exactly like every other resident of the state of Nebraska...

Biden administration allowing more trucks to haul fuel to help compensate.

Gang is in Russia and would certainly have to have their permission to do something this drastic. I would guess we will retaliate but wonder if we will ever learn how we did so. Somehow Putin needs to be taken down a couple of pegs.

The Amish had it right around 1875 they decided that technology had gone far enough and stopped there. Maybe the rest of us should too.

Over half of my clients are Amish, you ready to give up your computer, your phone, and go to a horse and buggy :). Or you can be like some of my Amish have the cell phones, purchase vehicles for workers, and then just hope you don't get caught by the elders.

Oh, the pipeline is carrying fossil fuels to blue states, I see.

On the first day of Biden’s presidency, he issued an executive order canceling the Keystone XL pipeline — making good on his promise to the climate activists who helped get him elected, but inviting the lawsuit brought by 21 states on Wednesday who say they will be hurt economically by Biden’s decision.

They’re not the only ones unhappy with the pipeline’s cancellation.

During a January 22 call to celebrate Biden’s presidential victory, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau voiced Canada’s “disappointment” with Biden’s decision. And TC Energy (formerly TransCanada), which runs the $8 billion pipeline, announced plans to cut 1,000 jobs “immediately.”

That one was carrying fossil fuels to the coasts for export. Not to states for US use.

Shhh, JVW is pawning you in order to support the socialist government of Canada which was letting the US subsidize the pipeline for their dirty AF tar sand oil.

Yet another reason for Republicans to realize that infrastructure doesn't only mean roads and bridges. Hopefully the lobbyists for Colonial and other energy companies are contacting the Republican senators of Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, North Dakota... And reminding them how much money they donate to their campaign coffers, and it's time to act.

Unaware, I went to Costco at 0830 with no one in line and filled up. Now, 20 cars in line at every station that has gas, and several are already out.

This is really easy to defeat:

Daily data backups.

Redundant systems.

Hardware in inventory ready to swap out.

Not sure why this keeps happening.

Evidently they never had the employee in-service that says the email for the contest they don't remember entering saying they won a new PlayStation 5 isn't real and they shouldn't click on the download to collect their winnings.

So this pipeline can't leak and contaminate water supplies up and down the east coast and Atlantic states. That's good to know because I was told pipelines invariably will leak with dire consequences...
That pipeline isn't over the major aquifer that serves most of the Midwestern states.

Texas went dark because of a cold snap this year. Think of what the Russians could do if they put. their efforts into hacking something like the power grid.

Now imagine if they farmed that shit out to China for 1/5th the cost!!!! 😉
