Cruz and Kennedy

Will be interesting to see if Nelson gets any more matches when healed....at least I assume he's still banged up.

i agree on Kennedy. Cruz is close to getting the spot but he still has to get a marquee win in my opinion. Wisconsin kid was decent but mccrone next week will be the one I am watching. my guess is petersen will get a shot at winning the spot if his weight is under control

Cruz is serviceable but Petersen is the guy if he is healthy and his weight is good. Kennedy is so much better than Nelson in my opinion. Not being disparaging but Nelson looks like he has no interest in wrestling the Iowa style anyway. Maybe it's rust or injuries but he has never lit it up.

Agree. But Nelson did it at nationals. But good comment

So is KP not healthy and his weight not good? Missing valuable mat time and Cruz is progressing it seems.

Honestly I don't think it matters much. Petersen had a great opportunity to win the spot at the Salute but didn't make weight. I really like Petersen but his 125 resume is pretty sparse. If two guys are about even I prefer the one who can make weight and get after it vs one who may or may not make weight and then be sucked in with no energy.

Diversant and Rivera are pretty solid wins. Either way it seems qualifying should be the goal for either guy.

I would be fine with PK going forward. But, Nelson’s loss is starting to look much less egregious than many have portrayed. Norman is 16-1 with a 4-3 loss to Hamiti. I wish we could see PK against Norman or Hamiti before making that final decision.

PK absolutely has been more entertaining so far. But, entertaining doesn’t guarantee more points at NCAA’s. I would take 4 or 5 very boring, super tight wins at NCAA’s, over 2 or 3 very aggressive wins, woth no podium finish, every single time…

He hadn't been to 25 in a while and couldn't go full bore because of some small injuries. Healthy now from what I hear so we should see a 100 Petersen soon.
But can he hold 125 and do so while being efficient? I think he’s got the higher upside but seemed he was sluggish

Seems like a no brainer.
I’ll take Kennedy. He’s earned it on the mat this year. Love his attitude & effort.

When it’s a coin toss, I generally prefer Iowa kids in the lineup but might lean towards Cruz in this case. He seems to enjoy being a Hawk and positive attitudes can be contagious. I’m not in the room, so put trust in the coaches. But if I’m honest, some of the trust has eroded.
