I think you should start a poll. This decision is too great to rely on one man's opinion alone.
Make sure you cut the notch towards the house side.
Then cut from the back side to fell it.

If you think you don’t want the tree in your yard, I’d suggest cutting it down. If you think it would be a nice addition to your landscape, I’d suggest not cutting it down.
Aside for select legitimate reasons, anyone who cuts down a tree should be placed in the stockades on the public square.

It appears you are answering your own question. But if you decide to remove anything from your property do it under the influence. That way if you regret the decision you can blame it on the booze or drugs. At least that’s what a friend told me. 😉

I mean, maybe it was there subconsciously. I guess maybe I was thinking about the redbud tree subconsciously. But I haven't actively thought about it for a couple of years. I don't want this on my plate right now.
