Clear he is zero factor at contributing to the lineup this year.Rigggins needs work on bottom, which is expected
I thought he was sucked in at 160 last year. He needs to eat and lift. He's not going to be the answer at 157.Riggins looks like he's sucking in too much weight for 157
He has the frame to be a solid 174I thought he was sucked in at 160 last year. He needs to eat and lift. He's not going to be the answer at 157.
Most kids don’t suck down for red shirt competitionRiggins looks like he's sucking in too much weight for 157
Obviously he’d do better up a weight or two.Clear he is zero factor at contributing to the lineup this year.
What were the rankings coming into the program?Out of all the bodies they brought in for the 2022 class a high AA future starter out of the group is looking iffy.
Riggins was highest in the 30s. Franklin was around 40. The rest basically unranked. So basically none of them are ranked to be high AA which is the problem. What were the rankings coming into the program?
Not the day anyone was hoping for.
They do if there is the possibility they could startMost kids don’t suck down for red shirt competition
Who was the last frosh to start? They do if there is the possibility they could start
Too bad quantity doesn’t score points.Out of all the bodies they brought in for the 2022 class a high AA future starter out of the group is looking iffy.
There might be a problem if a mid tier frosh can come in and take a spot on the roster. They do if there is the possibility they could start
Hopes for solid performances by our guys.People had hopes for this?
Is this a serious question? Ayala, Lee, Schriever, assad?Who was the last frosh to start?
Schriever has never been Iowa’s “starter”.Is this a serious question? Ayala, Lee, Schriever, assad?
Iowa St
He probably wrote that and then realized it later.Yeah I don’t know how someone could be on an official visit to Iowa while wrestling in Ames.
not all fargo champs are created equal. there are plenty who went on to do nothing at the college level. their recruiting rankings are much better indicators.Schriever has never been Iowa’s “starter”.
Nobody expected any Lee’s or Yianni’s, or
probably even Swiderski’s, out of the freshman class but Hill, Franklin and Riggins were Fargo champs or finalists, and so were Rathjen and Schriever a couple years before that. They are highly credentialed kids and I’m sure there will be a couple AAs in the group, the only real ringer we’ve had is Ayala though.
"If recruiting doesn't pick up"? HUH?? As I did in another thread, here's a list of wrestlers that refute your statement.if recruiting doesn't pick up, we will be right back to the mid 2010's era of boring, underperforming teams.
So, how many finals will that group see combined? I say ten…. (28 would be the max?)"If recruiting doesn't pick up"? HUH?? As I did in another thread, here's a list of wrestlers that refute your statement.
Patrick Kennedy
Drake Ayala
Nate Jesuroga
Gabe Arnold
Ryder Block
Ben Kueter
Cody Chittum
All project to be strong contenders for multiple NCAA finals appearances.
So important for the Iowa staff to sign a p4p guy every year. They had no one near that with the 22 class, 23 has potential to be a great one, and too early to tell with 24, but no one currently committed. Can’t go two recruiting classes without getting the big fish.not all fargo champs are created equal. there are plenty who went on to do nothing at the college level. their recruiting rankings are much better indicators.
they were all in the 30-40's. max murin's (another fargo finalist if i remember correctly). potential to be solid starters with some AA upside. can't build a championship team full of them. the days of turning mid level in state recruits into national champs and high aa's are over. have to recruit nationally and sign elite top 10 p4p guys. even cael doesn't lean on PA kids anymore and PA is the best state.

Depends how you define contender."If recruiting doesn't pick up"? HUH?? As I did in another thread, here's a list of wrestlers that refute your statement.

That's probably the high end. Meanwhile between RBY, Starocci and Brooks PSU will have 12 titles in 12 finals appearances from 3 guys. So, how many finals will that group see combined? I say ten…. (28 would be the max?)
Iowa needs to start investing in their target recruits with full rides if not doing so already. (And if they are offering the best, targeted guys full rides and they’re still not signing on, what are the barriers?)That's probably the high end. Come on MVP, that was a lame reply - are you wanting to play the semantics game, or something like that? Using common sense, most people would realize that "contender" in this case means that the wrestlers I listed are very high level recruits who most people would say they have a high probability of making one or more finals appearances. Please just use common sense when reading and responding to my posts - I'm just a simple guy, not interested in word games. Thanks.Depends how you define contender.
