He told Blair he's still solid with Iowa.

What makes everyone think he is going to go to LSU after they offered. He already chose Iowa over ND and that is one school we were the most worried about. I think it is a good offer, but I am guessing he sees Hyde, Jackson, King and all other NFL DB's that Iowa has put in as a good place to play. Plus close to home for his family and he is already used to the cold weather.
And Tre'Davious White who got roughed by Gronk. I live in Baton Rouge. They like to call themselves DB U here. Looks like DJ is a fall back recruit for them.

Yup on Tre'Davious White. I had read that thread too, but thanks for posting for everyone else. Definitely a fall back guy for them, but he's one of THE guys for Iowa so I think he stays and signs with us. First comment was in before "who does this mean we miss on?"
If he takes an official visit we're safe. Baton Rouge is the worst American city I've visited.

Nothing wrong with the young man feeling some pride about getting an offer from a perceived national power. Hankins was proud of getting a Michigan offer too ... and yet he stuck with Iowa.
What helps Iowa with Johnson (and the others) is that Iowa really WANTS Johnson on our squad AND Iowa is getting a bunch of guys who Johnson has likely developed friendships with. Thus, Johnson would be going to Iowa while bringing a little bit of "home" with him. Also, it doesn't hurt that Bell has done a great job of developing rapport with the Indiana guys (and the others too, for that matter).

Yeah, we got him over ND the first time. If he is smart, at all, he knows these guys are coming in because they missed their first guy, but he has always been our "first guy." Instead of worrying who we may lose let's focus on who we can gain.

And last because of contractual obligation the big ten has to send 7 teams, this is a good year for us to go to NYC because next year we will be playing in 2019 somewhere super warm and in a super meaningful game (if we can get some LB's to step up next year)
Goes to show you the difference in talent between the two schools. For one team he is a prized recruit and one of the top recruits in the class and for the other team he is a fall back recruit and one they hope they don't get.
Remember D.J., Iowa was in on you early and wanted your verbal early for the 2018 class. Some of these schools want you now because they lost out on other players. Stick with the us because we appreciated you and saw value in you long before the late comers.
I live in Houston. Used to drive to NOLA a few times a year. Now I fly normally, but I just drove in October. Surprisingly little traffic in BR.
Keokuk is on my bucket list. Been a long time since I've been to Ft. Madison and only remember the ominous prison.
My view of Milwaukee is not as bad. Can't say I've been to Kenosha though. And it's been a few since my last trip to Milwaukee.
Funny memory though, I was in Milwaukee right after they caught Jeffrey Dahmer. My buddy drives me past the apartment building & the yellow barriers have just been removed. We discussed walking in just to say we were there and we both chickened out. Scared me to death and it was early afternoon.
The fact that he is taking in home visits means there is at least an opening for another school to get him. Doesn't mean the opening is big, but it is there. My guess is both schools want him to wait to sign because he is likely a fall back if they miss on 4 and 5 stars. If that is the case, I expect him to stick with Iowa because if he waits it is possible neither school will have a place for him.
So now we have fans complaining that a kid who picked Iowa over ND is a fallback recruit for LSU and OSU? Holy hell. I hope you guys get your sac caught in your zipper...scratch that, being eternally miserable seems to be enjoyable for you guys.

I wasn't complaining at all. Just pointing out the difference is all. LSU is an embarrassment of riches just like a lot of other schools with a ton of in state talent.
