Just got pinned today. Sorry if pepsi.

What a damn shame.

When Ricki Stanzi was interviewed the Tuesday following the TD pass to McNutt, a reporter asked him if he was thinking during that moment what if we don't convert this. Stanzi calmly replied that if that they didn't convert and lost the game he would still be an American.

Perspective!

He was rolling along in the quarterfinals in the morning. Then landed awkwardly stretching out his leg. Wasn't the same the rest of that match. Wouldn't shock me if he's torn another ACL.

I think my brother is possibly in the ocean since I haven't heard from him yesterday or today. I just sent him a text not to get online until Monday and never to return to Iowa unless he can learn to appreciate women's basketball.

I understand that. I wouldn't last 5 seconds with them. Mom breaking her glasses was over the top
Parents usually want things more than the kid. 15 yrs of sacrificing. Watching him not eat. Constant training and my guess she knows it might have been his last match. I don't think his body can hold up to an Olympic training schedule.

I’ve been pissed off and enraged before in my 51 years on earth. But never ever to the point where I would grab the glasses off my face and wring them into pieces. Mama has some issues.
It reminded me of my gf’s (no pics) 6 year old son when he loses at something. Very odd. I get the situation, I get the parent wanting something for their kid. I do get it. But cracking your own glasses in anger is just….odd. I feel weird watching that clip.

Have u ever had a moment of stupidity you'd like to take back? I think this falls into that moment.

Absolutely. I guess it kinda comes down to how bad her eye sight is. If she’s blind as a bat, then no, I’ve never had a moment when I’ve been that stupid. If she doesn’t really need glasses, then maybe.
Probably has a spare. Rather have her break her glasses than the nearest Purdue's fans face.

Most people will just never understand what goes into being successful at this sport, especially at the D1 level. These kids sacrifice so much behind closed doors. There's very little money or fame. Just the glory of having your hand raised in these moments.

Wrestling parents sacrifice just as much as their kids, and I am not going to judge a mother for reacting poorly in a moment like this. Again, we should never even have known it happened. Spencer's parents have been nothing but amazing since moving their family to the state of Iowa.

To be fair, Star athletes parents are on TV ALL THE TIME. They always cut to them. Caitlin’s parents, Fred Garza, Kenyon Murray, the list goes on. It’s not some odd thing that in a moment of emotion his mom was caught in camera.

I don’t watch Iowa wrestling much. I know Spencer is the GOAT. But the folks saying nobody should have seen that, are letting their own emotions get in the way of things. That was a hell of a job by the camera guy.

She certainly didn’t come off well, but I have to agree with others, that’s a hard, hard moment as a parent and ESPN just puts her on cam for the whole thing. You want to focus on a kid who just lost or (like Connor yesterday) is ending a career, cool, the athletes put themselves out there. The parents are along for the ride. She had no control over that match, have a camera on her, but the producer could have made a different call.

Since you don't watch much wrestling, I take it you weren't watching it live. The difference here is they didn't show it live, they chose to go back and show it after the fact. Then they showed it 2 or 3 more times during the broadcast. That's my problem with it. Someone saw a mother's emotional (and embarrassing) reaction and made the decision to run it. It's already been made a meme by pedo PSU fans.

Eh, if they showed it 3 times, that’s a bit much. But it certainly wouldn’t be the first time a sad/depressed/angry person was shown after a loss. Once again, being Spencer Lee’s mom, she knows fully well that the cameras will be around. It’s not year 1.

We all get a good laugh when the ISU basketball girls dad does crazy shit during games. There’s no difference between that and Spencer’s mom doing crazy shit on camera.

Spencer’s mom is a former judo Olympic team member. That’s a pretty fiery woman there and probably who gave Spencer the behavior role model that got him to world class athlete.
