Dan Gable/ Worhtington, Mn Turkey Days

Ran in this road race again today, and found out just the night before that Gable would be the Honorary speaker before their parade. Just thought it was cool to have Gable in Worthington, Mn. giving a speech. So yes I did have to hang around after the road race to listen to him, His speech was on leadership and how great leaders can help you achieve great things in life. Pointed out how he had great leaders around him form before he was in Jr. High all the way through the Olympics. Worthington's past wrestling coach was a Cummings originally from Cresco, Ia. I believe who has now be inducted to the MN. Wrestling Hall of Fame. His son was the Master of Ceremonies. Just thought I would share this, always fun to here Gable speak.

Who won the turkey race? Paycheck or Ruby Begonia?

Didn't hang around for the running of the Turkeys.

Looked it up on the Daily Globe, Paycheck by just over 1 second.

Paycheck must have been fired up by Gables speech!

Turkey day is a fun time and I have run the 10 k a few times. Would have been cool to hear Gables speech

Gable did make a comment during his speech that the Turkeys were talking to him and telling him to hurry up with his speech they had some business to take care of. Haven't run this race in a few years. Numbers were down about 100 runners this year, new group in charge now run by the Y. Not doing the family picnic awards at the park anymore kind of took away from some of the enjoyment IMHO.
