I was completely shocked this was even brought to trial and am satisfied that justice was served in this case. If the races were reversed, I would have felt exactly the same. The justice system in some of these states needs to start fighting criminals instead of the victims. The fact that BLM is making this about racial injustice and trying to fire up their base is disappointing, but not surprising.

When in the course of applying a chokehold for 6 minutes would you have thought they were no longer a threat?
Regardless of how you feel about this, don't you think you would have let up after they lost consiousnss/stopped fighting.
When you look me in the eye and say "I'm going to kill you, I'm ready to spend the rest of my life in prision" you are no longer a threat to me, when you go limp.

You made that decision.

Accept that the guy holding Neely’s arms could be heard in video footage of the incident saying Penny wasn’t “squeezing” Neely’s neck in the 51 seconds before he released the chokehold. There can’t be a complete disregard for the drugs in the guy’s system either.

I am glad there are people willing to fight to save and protect the lives of others instead of just using their cell phones to sit back and record violent acts occurring and doing nothing to stop it.

I watched the video, he had him wrapped up for 6 minutes but the guy was clearly fighting back and talking for most of it. He probably should have changed to a different hold at some point but it wasn't like he was cranking on his neck the entire time.

Could this cause demonstrations like the Floyd thing, or would that be limited just to NYC?
I don't think it will.

No, not until the police showed up.

He should never have been charged.
Bullshit. In America we do not reward vigilante ante justice. The days of the Old West are long behind us…or should be. This guy deserved to be charged and taken to trial. The rest is up to the jury. But make no mistake, vigilantism cannot be tolerated in America.

I actually agree with this on the surface. They should have looked at all details and the testimony and should have been able to tell from there that it was justified and to not bring charges. The old saying is we are a not a nation of laws, we are a nation of political will and I think you are seeing this unfold before our eyes.

Gawd I’d like to watch some thug kick your ribs in in the street…..maybe I’d help[you]after 5 minutes…maybe not!

then that is a different story. If there were drugs in his system, also a different story.

So tell me, what did the person who died in this case do to warrant being taken down and put in a deadly chokehold for 6 minutes? All I have ever heard is the dead person got on the train and said "I am hungry and thirsty and I want to die." Is that it. Oh and he was begging for money. Wow, kill them all. You have free rein at the intersection to kill all those panhandlers begging for money.

Please tell me he did more than that to deserve being choked to death. I will wait for your answer

Still murder tho. What's worse? Threatening murder, or actual murder?
The most useless people in the history of humanity wish for everyone else to be as helpless (useless) as them.

Bullshit…Penny’s life, all the other people in that subway car, was threatened. The guy is a hero, not a vigilante.

I haven't followed this case closely but I am inclined to lean towards not guilty based on if I remember correctly that the fellow passengers on the subway who don't even know one another all considered him to be a threat. If there is consensus like that from people who don't know one another that this is a threat, we should not argue with it.

After it is established that he is a threat, I am not inclined to parse through and try to decide if this guy did the right thing to neutralize that threat. I am not ok with killing someone who is fleeing. But outside of that you do what you got to do.

Keep reading. He was threatening everyone on the train.

Like father ... like son.

His father is grifting off his son's death and calling for extreme violence against those applauding justice. Not hard to figure out which party he is registered with.
Just like Michael brown's parents

Crazed man was violently threatening passengers on a subway train. Penny restrained him but didn't kill him. The man was alive when police showed up, but because he was a gross homeless man none of the NYPD officers opted to help or even attempt cpr. The city officials then decided to charge penny for the death after the police refused to do their job.

Readers digest version.

Penny should sue Alvin Bragg and the city for millions now. New York really is a giant shit hole.

While not directly a shot a Joe or Joel, whatever your name is, this ideation is why people pull out their phones when a 16 year beats a teacher until she looses her eye sight for taking his phone instead of actually stopping the kid.

The democratic mind creates so many problems for itself because it doesn't like addressing confrontation upfront.

what you are describing is the demasculinizing of our culture. Men used to step up when there was a threat.
