;) No, I just think it bodes well that we’re recruiting and developing at a much higher pace than most. Look at all the positions Iowa’s put in the NFL just in the past 5 years.

I'm just glad he learned the defense enough to get playing time this year.

Did they already announce this years Thorpe winner? If not, I thought Jackson was included in the finalist, after not being a semi-finalist one of the few times ever in the history of the award. We might have two Thorpe winners.

And I double checked, and winner isn’t announced until the Dec 7th Awards show, with many of the other big awards.

It seems that the days of the 7 yard cushion are long gone. We played everything this year, and did it alright. Only one Purdue receiver lit up the secondary.

Like I said before, pretty odd to go from 4th cb to thorpe award, makes me feel like the best players are not always on the field, see faith e. & a. Gair last year.
Some players are not good practice players. How do you play someone if they are not practicing well and others are. You don’t know until someone gets injured.

Just a few years ago posters lamented the fact Iowa wasn't able to recruit the secondary. KF listened. Now if he could pull his offense out of the stone age.

Parker has two 2* athletes win the best awards at their position and are competing for DPOY and yet there are still complaints claiming that - but for the stupid coaches - these guys would have played earlier, and that their talent was somehow undeniable. Video-game-mindset. How about Jackson improved a lot, from coming in as a wr, being switched to defense and learning behind a solid backfield? Not everybody is four-year players, in fact it is exceedingly rare.

He played as a freshman in the Rose Bowl and 12-0 season. He played last year. The starters ahead of him the past 2 years are both on NFL rosters. JJ has been around for a long time, and a staple in nickle and dime packages as an underclassmen. I'm not sure how people missed him filling that role admirably.

Too much bitching and lack of awareness by too many.

Congratulations to Phil and his coaches. If I was a LB or DB recruit I would seriously be considering Iowa. They really know how to develop players.
