Dear Greg Davis: About that out-route to the sideline for a couple yards gained...

Tear out EVERY page that route appears in, and collectively burn them! We worked in screens to the sideline, slants, come-back routes, etc. but I thought we had learned our lesson. How many of those have we had to watch taken back on us? So frustrating to see that play rear its ugly head in the Rose Bowl. I thought Greg Davis did a wonderful job play-calling all year, but he slipped into the bad GD of 2014 there.

Although that particular play ended horribly, it was fairly effective all year with a QB that can get it there accurately & quick enough.

CJB just had very little time all game to throw.

Here's the issue ... Not only could we not pass protect all year but we could not effectively run the ball to move the chains on the ground the last couple of games. There was a time in the season where 3 & 2 or 3 was not an automatic passing down. To me that's the root cause of the issue.

I called the route from my couch pre snap. Beathard locked in like Vandy of old and threw it right to the cb. Game over!!!

It has, but that time it was a terrible decision and throw. Stanford had that jumped before CJ even took the snap

I don't mind that play with a healthy CJ, but with his lower body problems, that is a terrible play for him right now.

Too many "swing and a miss" on our top recruits at most positions. Kirk needs a top notch recruiter on staff.

I expect Greg Davis to retire after next season. His game planning is so predictable.

Kirk will never have a top recruiter at Iowa because Iowa is not sexy. I hope the next head coach will be a great recruiter as well as coach. Bobby Diaco or Brent Venables. Iowa's old school is out of fashion.
