Defense of subs

Our starting defensive play is atrocious.

This is a true statement.

Luka, JBO and Connor are 3 of the worst defenders in the league.

Weiskamp isn't very good in zone, he's better in man, which is true of most players.

But our backups ground the MSU "offense" to a halt.

well, in short, because the bench is where all the best defenders on the team dwell.. 3 of 5 starters should probably not even be on the court at the same time from here on out, especially if they are gonna spot teams 10-12 points to start each half.. I do believe Luca & Joe W can play in any line up that’s on the court however..

No doubt, but we can survive if Joe isn't bringing it hard.

It's definitely a factor. There was zero, zip sense of urgency with the starters tonight as well. Non-existent. Very impressed with the freshmen, Toussaint and Nunge. Iowa doesn't win without them.

They can have all the urgency they want to muster but it doesn't mean they're going to stop anyone, especially JBo and Connor.

there is quite a large sample size of this being ture... 😬 really don’t think it’s a “will” thing...

The only reason all of the subs got those minutes is our upcoming schedule and fran trying to keep fresh legs. If we just had one game sunday, they may not have played much.

Only reason? Fran said in his presser that he was thinking about bringing the starters back in sooner, but he kept the subs in longer because they were playing so well together.
