Defense!

At the start of this game the Iowa Hawkeyes played GREAT defense. I would say that opening stretch, against the best shooting 3 point team in the B10, just stymied them. OSU looked a little bewildered and frustrated.

Certainly there were some missed assignments and some lapses in intensity.....but that was probably the best defensive effort (during parts of that game) that I remember in a long time.

If these Hawks can keep improving in that area down the stretch....that is a big big deal.

I think they have played a lot of good defense in partial games. still can't do it for most of a game though

They continue to improve....and at this time of year, the fact that they are continuing to improve is a big big deal. That is especially significant since it's on the defensive end.

I'll be honest...I thought we could be in for a long night when you consider that Ohio State is not only the best 3 point shooting team in the league but is also the leader defensively at points surrendered...I think I read that they were only giving up 61 per game.

Finally got to watch the 2nd half as my son and his two boys came over earlier. Fran is doing a remarkable job with the team and it shows. Nice defensive effort tonight and a big win.

Not only did we play good defense, we played great man to man defense. We have not been a good man to man team this year but we are coming around!
