So we held Rutgers to 31% shooting. Best defensive showing of the year. Are we happy about that? Seems like that’s been lost in the post game discussion.

Without rewatching it seemed like our shooting vs Rutgers was very different.
Almost all of our shots seemed contested or at the end of the shot clock. We were frequently blocked or had shot clock violations.
I can’t say the same about Rutgers. They missed a lot of shots that weren’t as contested.
I think we have become numb to a really low level of defense for the sake of saving their energy and focus for offense.

This was the best Iowa's defense has looked since we played you guys IMO. Lots of effort out there. Harper was blanketed all night

I actually thought we played a good game last nite. Offense was clearly stifled by Rutgers defense. Had to look it up but I thought we held our own on the boards, they had 10 more. Win the rebounding battle, we win. To be in a low scoring, defensive game, with chance to win at the end, I think bodes well for the Hawks. My take away is that this game was a toss up, played really tough and almost came away with a road win despite no offense. I also think we win that game on a neutral court.

The defense was pretty good but Rutgers missed a ton of close shots too.

They only have two guys that score off the dribble Harper and Baker and Keegan and Joe did a good job against them. Philip played a pretty good game against Omoruyi too.

Pat was ok on the ball but got lost on screens and backdoor more than a couple times.

Pat wouldn't be playing Big 10 bball if it wasn't for Fran.
