Athleticism has nothing to do with working to take away the right hand from a guard looking to drive.
Iowa's defense is often always so worried about giving up the 3, they get blown by for layups, or so worried about getting beat to the basket that they give up wide open 3s. There's no in-between and there's always constant chasing of the ball.
Their close-outs are crap and their help on the drive/weakside is crap.
That's on fundamentals and recognition/awareness.
It's either not being taught, or the players aren't getting it figured out.
