Defensive Rebounding and use of JoshO

Should Iowa play Josh more minutes, and how many would you suggest?

  • No. Giving Josh more minutes would probably hurt us in other areas,

  • Give Josh as many minutes as his endurance will allow, even moving Mulvey to 4, and Kris to 3.

  • I meant to say Rebraca moving to 4 in the fourth choice, not Mulvey!

He has stamina challenges for sure and is spotty as far as looking comfortable/confident, but...He is at least some sort of rim presence. The lane is like a wind tunnel against our defense most of the time. He also is a big body for setting screens but needs to focus on defense, rebounding, picks and passing (Josh is actually a decent passer). He has potential to be adequate in the low post, but we are not there yet.

Josh did a commendable job last year against Purdue's bigs. He definitely should be playing against teams with size. Josh holds his ground on defense and has shown good footwork around the basket. Rabraca can't do anything about his size. He works hard and does his best, but he needs help from Josh. And doesn't Josh have asthma? It seems like I read that somewhere. Somebody on the board should be able to confirm or refute.

He has flashes of brilliance to his game but the cardio still seems to be holding him back. It was reported, and I don't know if it's accurate, that he has some ongoing health issues that are the issue. He definitely has some talent and seems like a likable kid but without better cardio, he ends up being more of a detriment when he's in there.
He was eatin good in the concessions at Carver last night during women's game
