Dental crown

Maybe we will get Hillarycare to keep your teeth in order? I've never understood why eyes and teeth get their own insurance product. Just roll it all into one health plan.

Just went to the dentist today for the first time in years. Need a root canal, two crowns, a few fillings, and he said I probably am grinding my teeth because I have the wear of a 65 year old. Other than that, he said everything else looked great.

He said a crown cost $1100 each and the root canal was going to be about $1400. $325 in charges today. Fillings may add another $1k. I figure my share is about $2k. Luckily, I got in now and can do the root canal in 2015 and the rest in 2016 so i can use the maximum yearly benefit for both years.

This is convincing me that I should get dental insurance. Havn't gone to the dentist in years but I've had 2 crowns since I was in middle school. If for some reason they need to be replaced or something, it would be important to have the insurance there.

Jesus Pepsi. Your self-righteous tooth doesn't need a crown.

Lose crown on Friday, post about it next Thursday. Pepsi.gif.

That seems a little pricey but definitely in the ball park. Mrs LC and I both had them this year and it ran a bit over $1K. We spend a lot of money at the dentist and have no insurance, so I suspect we get a break on pricing.

For being such a knowledgeable person you sure leave me scratching my head from time to time. Don't you have a 3 year old? Are you not taking him to the dentist yet?

A good Dentist in a major urban/suburban area can make
an excellent income. Some only need to work 4 days a
week (Monday through Thursday). A young Dentist will
usually buy the practice of a retiring Dentist and he is set up
to be a CROWNING SUCCESS.

Personally I've always been happy to live in a country that values good dental hygiene.

2 year old and no he hasn't seen the dentist yet. We are probably going to be taking him in soon though.

He doesn't understand complex things like keeping his mouth open and staying still yet. (Understands simple things like come here, no, go there as well as bringing certain objects) So I'm not sure how well it would even work. He would likely fight the dentist as it's hard enough just to brush his teeth.

I'll be honest, I'm surprised Pepsi has his original teeth (or at least some of them).

50% covered is about right I believe for most plans.

I just had 2 crowns and a bridge done, bill for me came (so far) to $1800. I believe a $700 bill will be coming soon once it's all fully washed through insurance, and I know I reached my $1500 benefit limit for the year. If my memory is good I think they were roughly $1200 apiece before insurance.

I think ours were 2 when they had their first dental appointment. I think my son did well, and my daughter didn't do so well. The roles reversed the next appointment. Now they do pretty good. I've always give them things to say as they are brushing their teeth or I'm helping them. Ahhh means open up. Eeeee means bit together. So on and so forth. It helped at the dentist because the dentist/myself could say "Ahhhh" and they opened their mouth. Obviously that is the universal saying everyone does to open wide but it helped setting the habit before we went.

I suggest securing some dental insurance for your family. Get yourself and your kids to the dentist for at least a cleaning at a minimum.

Yeah we have been considering that, we still have to finish setting up our insurance for next year but my wife has said she wants to get dental insurance and I agree that we probably should do so.
