I agree, I would like Cade as a backup over Lainez. But if what you say is true, then that means Cade did not get benched because of injury, he got benched because of his play.Cade was concussed. It was discovered at halftime, which is why he came out of the locker room sans helmet. Apparently didn't start exhibiting symptoms until they got to the locker room. Which is why he's not listed on the depth chart. I, for one, hope he can recover quickly and be available for Wisconsin. Not as the starter, but as someone we can turn to if Sully gets hurt. No offense to Marco, but we're screwed if he's the backup that has to come in for an injured Sully.
So I see all of these arguments about playing the wrong guy. I don't really have a position on this because the analysis almost always has to lean into the assumption that the preferred option was capable of delivering at the level they did a year or so in advance. Even this change isn't completely settled yet given that that Sullivan only has just over 2 quarters of experience upon which to measure his superiority to Cade. I already was of the opinion that Cade was bad and Kirk needed to at least try something else.2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024. Quarterback changes should have been addressed every season and weren’t. For example, in 2022 we couldn’t throw, pass protect or have receivers that could get open. So it would have made perfect sense to go with a mobile qb like Labas and just try and run. But we didn’t have an offensive coordinator that had the capabilities to game plan for that.
If you think Marco is anywhere close to ready to play meaningful snaps in a B1G game....I don't know what to tell you....Wow, Cade stinks and has been terrible all season and yet you want him available why?
At least Marco is fun to watch run around! We get zero benefit from Cade coming back. I hope he’s ok but he needs to move on with life out of playing this game.
Huh.. I'm still waiting for Kirk to declare that Cade is in "Game shape".If you think Marco is anywhere close to ready to play meaningful snaps in a B1G game....I don't know what to tell you....
The game plan all along was to get Sully non-red zone snaps/series. I think the pick 6 hastened it along, so I wouldn't necessarily say Cade was "benched" so much as they were already planning on getting Sully in. But Sully playing the entire 2nd half was due in part to Cade's injury and due in part to his command of the game in the 2nd half.I agree, I would like Cade as a backup over Lainez. But if what you say is true, then that means Cade did not get benched because of injury, he got benched because of his play.
He's in a lot better "game shape" than Marco is.....I can assure you of that.....Huh.. I'm still waiting for Kirk to declare that Cade is in "Game shape".
Actually you can't, but that's ok. Everyone is entitled to their uninformed opinion. He's in a lot better "game shape" than Marco is.....I can assure you of that.....
Is @HawksRule73 really @eyesofhawk ?Actually you can't, but that's ok. Everyone is entitled to their uninformed opinion.
and you would know how, just curious? If you think Marco is anywhere close to ready to play meaningful snaps in a B1G game....I don't know what to tell you....
He doesn’t have the wins record, but I could picture a young coach taking over a blue blood for 20 years and reaching him. Heck, it could be Ryan Day.To be fair.....as are his wins.
It's just ridiculous that a QB that's now been in the system for almost 2 full years is supposedly nowhere near ready to see the field in this super complicated pro style offense, where the average receiver catches 2 passes a game. That's one of 2 things. We either never should have recruited him or we can't coach QB's.and you would know how, just curious?
This has been the case since forever. It's just ridiculous that a QB that's now been in the system for almost 2 full years is supposedly nowhere near ready to see the field in this super complicated pro style offense, where the average receiver catches 2 passes a game.
