Depth Chart for UCLA: Brendan Sullivan is QB1

You make some good points. However, "taking a few games longer than we would have liked" can be the difference between a potential playoff berth or going to a meaningless bowl.
Completely agree there. But KF is who he is, and unfortunately he is a methodical decision-maker and has been as long as he's been here. I'm not sure that that's going to change. We'll have to decide if, in this day and age of the loss of divisions and expanded playoffs, we're willing to accept that in our head coach and, more importantly, if KF is able to recognize that and willing to make quicker decisions and willing and capable of pivoting quicker.

Nobody is mad. Everybody has seen this story play out before. Backup QB has the “it” factor (Banks, Stanzi, Beathard), but KF continues with struggling starter to due whatever reason.

I’m glad you’re confident in KF making the right move, but we’ve been let down before.
Let's be mad till the game starts and BS is QB1 and then 2 seconds after the game starts lets be mad cuz Cades gonna start the next game. Round and round some of you loons go.

Cade probably hasn't cleared concussion protocol yet and will on either the 1 or 2 slot when he does. That is the real question, which slot?
Someone on another thread said they saw him on the sidelines, in streets clothes, and seemed to be suffering from a headache... I don’t know how one determines that from the stands but yeah.

Not if we have to relieve Sullivan. I get some fans just want Cade out of the picture. The sideline reporter before the game the other night mentioned that Stratton had practiced Monday at linebacker. Another guy possibly in the middle of a position switch but he will play at QB if needed.
He's listed as 6'4" and 193# on the depth chart. Unless the numbers on there are way off, Stratton is at least 30# shy of what you'd want to see for a linebacker.

are there really only 2 healthy QBs left on the roster? Sullivan and Stratton?

Concerning with a running QB. A walk on is next up with no backups behind him. Hopefully Cade is cleared.

Didn't they say Cade couldn't even sit through film session the day after his concussion because he was fairly messed up by it? That sounds like a bad one to me.
Yep, think they said he could not stand the lights in the room.

Kirk said they'd get him sunglasses so he could start Friday.

that we won't win @EvilMonkeyInTheCloset a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP?
Hey still not out of it. Just need to slip into the B1G champtionship game.

Ohio State loses to Purdue or Northwestern, Michigan.
Indiana loses to Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue.
Penn State loses to Purdue, Minnesota, optionally to Maryland.
Oregon loses to Maryland, .. and... ugh.. and... ahh....**** nevermind that's insane.

So yea. Iowa VS Oregon in the B1G championship. ..Sorry Evil..

When you’ve been married long enough you’ll spot that “headache” look from a mile away. Usually it’s right around bedtime.

Chad L said on his Wed podcast that Stratton is up to 220lbs. And I think the sideline reporter was saying that Stratton was playing LB was because he was 4th on the depth chart and the scout team D needed an LB body.

Don't want to toss water on this, but no Cade on the depth chart. I think Brendan would be No. 1 anyway, but interesting to note.

Edit - Also, note that Kaleb is still listed as a KR. Yeah, right.
Sure but this a Monday release. Lachey isn't on there either and their hoping he'll be ready. No, I don't see Cade starting regardless, but he could very well be QB2 by Friday.

On the scout team, but I think he's still at QB.....

When were all these times we were let down?

In 2001, McCann led a Top 10 scoring offense and Banks got time in spot duty. KF and KOK played that just fine. They were working with a QB that no one had even heard of and we literally stumbled upon. He got on campus late and played catchup with the playbook. That spot duty got him primed for what happened in 2002. But even by his own admission he wasn't ready.

In 2007, JC was our only real viable option as Stanzi was still a redshirt freshman and had growing up to do. By 2008, Stanzi started out getting split duty with JC and eventually took over after the debacle at Pitt. It took a game too long, but the change was made.

In 2014, Beathard starting making his move and was able to pick up spot time with Rudock. After the bowl game, KF named him the starter. There was a whole lot more wrong in 2014 than just the offense. The defense was not good that year. Rudock proved he wasn't a slug by going to Michigan and winning 10 games and then getting drafted. The decision on who to start was a lot harder than it looked on the outside.

Last year, we had no viable option at QB....none.

So again, other than maybe taking a few games longer than we would have liked, where are all these let down decisions that you claimed have happened?
Stop posting facts, their not interested......

"We're willing to accept"? Are WE hiring the HC now? As long as Iowa keeps winning 8-9 games a year he's not getting fired, that is a fact. So is that there's no one on this site that has anything to say about changing that regardless of the delusions that get posted on this site.

It could also be that the sideline reporter confused stratton with gerardy, who was a hs qb that came to iowa as a walkon db and is now the third string qb due to all of injuries

IN that picture, neither guy exudes athleticism though Lainez did look pretty athletic running ball in last bowl game. Throw in Deacon from last year and you wonder how they passed the Look test.
Is that Deacon with the grey hoodie? Maybe he came back..lol

Thanks for the info and scout team does make sense. I got the impression in camp that they like Stratton and that he had moved ahead of Lainez. Working with the 2s now he has a leg up in the competition for backup come spring.
