Who will start at QB?

Gronowski, obviously. I know everyone is doom and gloom and we keep posting these dumb threads, but Mark has everything Lester wants in a QB. Most importantly, an accurate and strong arm.

Kirk needs to not be deciding anything with respect to the quarterback room because he hired someone to do that. With that said, I'm now a bit concerned that Kirk is compelled to start a less than 100% Gronowski because he spent the Swarm's money to acquire him and we end up in the same situation whereby the most capable QB is holding a clipboard while the starter uses half the season to "round into game shape".
Why do you think he won’t be 100% by summer camp? It’s not like fb never have surgery

I think he’s probably 100% by fall camp.

I also think Sully is given a chance to win the job.

The McNamara saga left a mark…

I have no idea if he will or won't be 100% by summer camp. I hope he is, but it's in no way a certainty that a throwing shoulder, should it be less than 6 months removed from labrum surgery as has been stated here, will be 100%. Even if he is physically ready, you typically don't go from not throwing anything for 6 months, to being at full strength right away. Surgery and rehab on a qb's throwing shoulder is never trivial, no matter what people might say.

It’s the throwing shoulder now?

I assumed given the length of the rehab and being out of practice. If it were the non-throwing arm then that would be preferential and he'd me much more likely to be at full strength in terms of throwing ability come fall.

Again. Who knows?

Only way it’s not Grownowski is if he has a setback and isn’t able to be physically ready.

Better question might be who transfers out after spring ball. I think we’ll lose one, maybe two QBs at that point.

6 QB’s on the roster? Definitely 1-2 will go I’d assume.
I could see Shaggy transferring for a scholly and a better chance at playing time, but that’s it. B Sullivan would have been more likely to bolt if MG were healthy in the spring; he will be the clear #1 in the spring and at the very least will play every game situationally next season.

Gronowski can run as well. So we'll see about that.

Depends on the health of Gronowski and who sticks around after spring. I bet either Sullivan or Stratton transfer out. One of those two would start Week One I would think if Gronowski isn't ready. Both know the offense better than Brown and have starting experience and we all know Ferentz likes experience.

After the recent commitment I figured someone might bail.

Way too many guys that want to play and not stand on the sideline.

Can't blame them.
I saw ND had 4-5 QB's taking snaps pre-game. Nothing wrong with competition and certainly nothing wrong with depth. It comes down to the player and if they feel they will get a fair opportunity to start. With the portal and top talent coming in one would think that current rostered QB's would feel a little snubbed after being in teh program for "X" years.

With TL now at the reigns of the Offense, maybe we will start seeing some QB development that we can compete with.

Given Gronowski’s surgery who do you think is more likely to start vs Albany Sullivan or Gronowski?

It’s hard to believe MG would come here to stand on the sidelines, but OTOH Sully will have wayyyy more time in the offense and familiarity with the other skill players.

All that being said, who is more likely to start at QB week 1?
I have to believe that it is Gronowski's to lose. I wonder what is going through Sullivan's mind right now.

Just your opinion, given without actual facts. Might hear someday what the surgery was actually for.

Yup. Someone said Kakert reported it was a torn Labrum. Seems odd that he'd be out of commission until June if it was a non throwing arm but who knows.
