Well, they've seen what happens with a nearly all ISU staff, so I imagine the change is refreshing.
Maybe they're "all in" to quote another departed ISU coach, with KD? Imitation is the highest form of flattery.
Now the challenge begins... get the Eastern kids to Ames.

Found it kind of funny that one of the Cyclone fans was like, "At least he wasn't like those other Hawks" which I guess inferred that DSJ was like sunshine and puppies. I'm like...did you ever see the guy wrestle? He was about as hardcore as there was. So many opposing fans used to bitch about him.
Guilty! I used to think he was going to blind David Taylor with all of those eye pokes!! But, I ALWAYS appreciated his grit and determination. The kid was DAMN TOUGH!

Not true! The dude was a 412 lb. ballerina! A very tough ballerina, that is.
I don't think you can be an NCAA champ and not be athletic, but some are definitely less athletic than others.
In recent memory I'd probably consider Derek Moore (from whatever Cali school he went to), Keith Gavin, and Jay Borschel to the list.

I can if his wife doesn't want to leave the state and Ames is trying to build something big and needs to put a big name in there with a big salary (relative to the position).
Anybody notice the Kevin Dresser tweet a few weeks back, talked about the olympic training facility that they were creating and then said when we announce who is running it, it will shock the wrestling community.
We haven't had a wrestler in the last 10 years that was as chippy as DSJ. People see what they want to see
Unfortunately, my last memory of DSJ was his performance in the consolation rounds as a senior. I viewed that as a polar opposite to what we witnessed from many other great Hawks that didn't win a title as a senior, or ever, and appeared to give a much better effort in some of their last matches.
Specifically... TJ, Schwab, and Gilman this season. I don't know what may have been going on behind the scenes towards the end, but if he was healthy... he gave little to no effort on Saturday morning at Nationals. IMO!

I do find it hilarious reading the Cyclone board and they are talking about not wanting Metcalf or Ramos because they didn't show up when the lights were brightest.

He must have forgot that DSJ, Ramos, Metcalf and even Zadick really all were molded in the college room by Brands.

You have an unhealthy obsession with Minnesota and Iowa State. As soon as St. John turns into an ISU coach, you bash him. You really could give the whole isu/min rant thing a rest.
You would be wrong. This was an opinionated observation from watching him that morning.
This topic is about DSJ and it has included many comments other than him now being associated with ISU. If he had been hired at Cornell, UNI, Illinois, or Missouri I would have made the exact same remarks. There is no connection to what you stated.

Good for him ... and another reminder just how big of impact the University of Iowa has had on the wrestling world ...
Dresser is a car salesman. I don't care if he was a hawk after all his tantrums and bad mouthing Iowa while at VT. Those actions and taking over isu tell me being a former hawk does not mean much to him these days. DSJ or any other hawk that wants to be in bed with him over there can go fly a kite too. Obviously they can't all stay at Iowa and I like them to do well at not so direct rival programs as long as not vs us but ISU is a different animal, throw Minny, OSU, psu and maybe even fosu in there too. You go to one of those, you go to our #1 in state rival we wrestle every year and I don't care what you did wearing the black and gold. You are the enemy now. Dresser knows he can't sell ISU, that is why he is trying to sell a second version of Iowa. Clown fans are so desperate they will slobber all over these Iowa connections who they lashed at in disgust previously if they think they will help them.
We own 15 titles because of an "in state rival" as our coach.
