I believe 18-5 was the score. Has anyone seen any video? Did Justin look healthy? That was a beating.
Saw it live...kid is for real. Makes Lee's match with him all that much more impressive.
OP is obviously a graduate of Iowa's top notch writing college.Which corner was Lee in?
In Pittsburgh? Damn I wished I knew that. I'd like to have met you at least...Saw it live...kid is for real. Makes Lee's match with him all that much more impressive.
Yep. I just watched the entire Lee Desanto match, and it is very obvious that Lee is far from 100%. It looked nothing like Spencer Lee. He was barely moving his injured leg. I have little doubt if Spencer was healthy, he would have beat Desanto handily.

I mean no offense, but this doesn't need to be defended. Desanto himself said Lee was far from 100%.
I agree Spooner.
Desanto is a classy kid and one of my favorite wrestlers to watch. He acknowledges Spencer's injury and realizes the sequence of events that led up to his historic win. He has all of the tools to make an impact at the next level and will be fun to watch.
I never felt good about Mejia de-committing. And this match doesn't change it. I really think he'd be a great Hawk under Brands.

Go back and watch his interview where he discussed his decision to drop to 126 and face Spencer. This was before Spencer's injury where he gives props to Spencer while clearly stating why he was passing up an easier path to a state title. He never said he thought he could beat Spencer but rather that he worked hard to improve from the previous years loss and wanted to face the best competition.
He just missed a state title his Sophmore year where Devin Brown was trailing in the third period and was able to get a defensive pin against him on his way to a 3rd PA championship. Desanto is for real. Strong as a bull, good at three positions and has Nolf's gas tank.
His dominating performance against Mejia says it all. Would have loved to see him and Fix at Dapper Dan instead.
----If I had to choose between the two, I would have went with Renteria. With Mejia, he didn't wrestle enough non CA matches to know exactly where he was in the pecking order. I hope the best for him at Illinois.
Doesn't need to be defended? It shouldn't need to be, but go read flo, other forums, or facebook comments from wrestling news posts. Many people are saying the ACL is an excuse, and Desanto is better than Lee.
Yeah, he was at Penn before that. Now also involved with the Pennsylvania RTC.did anyone see that Josh Dziewa is an assistant at Drexel? SIAP...
2) Did anyone else see Lee's reaction? This says a TON about who Lee is. He was ecstatic when DeSantos won. It would have been pretty easy to be bitter yada yada yada, but Spencer was legitimately happy for him. Great to see it.
Yeah but was he having f**?
If he really wanted to come to Iowa and vice verse, he'd be redshirting most likely, which, I believe would cover the NLI year. Could be wrong.Prolly already signed NLI huh?

DeSantos is a great kid and won't be going far from home. I spoke to two adults from his school at the DD and they filled me in on why Drexel??? He's actually on the autism spectrum and has been home schooled and he doesn't feel comfortable being too far away. They feel he'll live at home and commute.
Heard they are changing the pronunciation from "Drexel" to "Jevel."
"No shit" tell us something we don't know.Spencer was the honorary captain for the event. He was in the corner for all the matches.
Considering the OP thought it was really something that Lee was in DeSantos corner..."No shit" tell us something we don't know.

Kinda like college fans that stop seeing team colors when the wrestlers move onto the world stage. You mean vigorously cheering for the kid that just beat him a few weeks back?
