DeVries NOT a candidate for Iowa job. Ben McCollum the next Iowa Head Coach?

If Beth can't get either DD or BM, there's absolutely zero reason to pay any attention to Iowa basketball any longer. It will be obvious at that point the university is not committed to fielding a competitive team and firing Fran, and all the negative publicity that came with it, will be for nothing.
There are other coaches out there.

Does anyone remember back when Fran was hired if he was a surprise hire (flew under the radar on this site), or were we fairly certain it would be him (similar to how it appears with DD right now)?

His name came up a couple of times in posts when people would throw a bunch of names at the wall, but he was never considered a front-runner.

I remember some folks suggesting McCaffery would be a good fit at St Johns, who also had an opening that year. St Johns wound up hiring Steve Lavin, who ironically was being pushed by a few posters as a candidate for the Iowa job.

If it is Darrien Devries, she has hire the safe bet, but there is nothing in he's resume to indicate he'll be any better then Fran was. Again looking at his yearly coaching record he hasn't led any of his teams past the 1st week of the NCAA tournament, huh, just like Fran and if he happens to stick around Iowa for the next 15 years he'll be almost as old as Fran is now, shocking similar....

You could say that about nearly every P4 level coach that came from a mid major. The reverse can also be true for Cinderella stories. Porter Moser hasn’t exactly been a savior at Oklahoma after his Final 4 run at Loyola.

Unless she dressed like Kim Mulkey, wtf does

Unless she dressed like Kim Mulkey, wtf does that even mean?
It means she is a rookie, and I'm not in favor of shelling out $10M just to hire a coach and then have to pay that coach on top. Especially for men's college basketball. Why gamble so much on something that doesnt produce a whole lot of revenue to begin with.

I'd rather lock up a coach for $2M a year and then have another $3M for NIL each year.

If Iowa has its guy already you would think an announcement would be made today or tomorrow so not to get buried under the real start of the NCAA tournament.

If it’s not today or tomorrow we probably have a swing and a miss and on to our second choice.

Shes not a rookie in any sense of the word you just don't like having a woman as the AD lmao.

That's also not how the money works they don't have some sort of salary cap where they have X amount of dollars to spend on combined buyout and NIL. They need people to donate to get the NIL and they're more likely to donate to some coaches than others.

Yeah, but it's been said that he adjusts according to the personnel that he has on the court.

Yes, he had NWMS teams that lead the country in scoring. He just wants his guys to take good shots, he's trying to generate as many open threes and layups as possible, when you have a roster full of D2 guys playing D1 that means slowing things down and using a lot of the shot clock. It's still an extremely efficient and effective offense.

Lickliter never did anything that wasn't built for him prior to Iowa. His problem was that he was a bad coach not that he played slow.

Not necessarily. Jay Wright went 0-2 in NCAA tournament games at Hofstra.. He did okay at Villanova, I think.
