One doesn't lose and the other can recruit and beat Iowa State and won at Kansas.....They might be good coaches but I find it hard to get super excited about Drake or ex-Drake coaches.

that would be a kick in the balls.
really surprised IU is interested in DD. Not sure how their fan base would feel about that hire.

New dream job
supposedly Beth really likes McCollom.New dream job
Perhaps. These coaching hires are never a sure thing.they have the NIL and revenue sharing to buy a very talented roster.
Devries would coach that incredible talent well, correct?
Could be. But I'm wondering, if DD has accepted Beth's offer, if he wants to hold off a day or two more out of respect to his players' and their fans' disappointment regarding being snubbed by the NCAA. Not sure; just wondering. If Iowa has its guy already you would think an announcement would be made today or tomorrow so not to get buried under the real start of the NCAA tournament.
If it’s not today or tomorrow we probably have a swing and a miss and on to our second choice.
supposedly Beth really likes McCollom.
This whole thing is so dumb that I don’t know where to start. It means she is a rookie, and I'm not in favor of shelling out $10M just to hire a coach and then have to pay that coach on top. Especially for men's college basketball. Why gamble so much on something that doesnt produce a whole lot of revenue to begin with.
I'd rather lock up a coach for $2M a year and then have another $3M for NIL each year.

I think it all has yet to play out. Attractive candidates connected to these jobs are still coached in the NCAA. Medved, Odom, Wade, Jans, McCollum. Etc.Assuming Devries goes to Indiana, is McCollum a lock?
I mean the big risk for Mc was that he would go to Indiana, but that job would be off the table.
Minnesota might be enticing to him, but it looks like they’re going with Medved.
Sounded like Virginia wants him, but would he really take that job over Iowa?
Seems to me DeVries taking the Indiana job is a heck of a lot better for us than DeVries deciding to stay at WVU
So, it’s actually something.“No nothing”

No inside of my info but I’m starting to think Ben McCollum is our guy.
The only way that works is if some of the funds come from a booster. They could channel the money either direction. You're not the first poster to state that we should pay less for a coach and use the savings for NIL.
By what mechanism do these savings get "laundered" to create the NIL funds?
Take your political garbage to the Off Topic cesspool.Shut the **** up. Did you tell the other moron this?
Interesting.
Lick beat Izzo in what had to be his finest Iowa moment, I’m sure. Don’t think either team got out of the 40’s.That is because the Lickliter style was to field a team of sub par athletes and get blown out of the gym by 1st half.
Wisconsin style under Bo Ryan was slow ball, but they won. He was loved.
Iowa had two games in B1G....one vs OSU was low scoring grind out close win. The other way non-stop offense and Iowa players looking like little boys trying to rebound. The OSU game was more fun to watch.
My sense from people who were on the big booster call is that she seemed to have a slight preference for McCollum and boosters seemed to want DeVries.
I just remember we did not have a good pool of candidates to choose from and guys like Brian Gregory and Kevin Stallings were saying not interested. Fran was the best choice out of the few interested.Does anyone remember back when Fran was hired if he was a surprise hire (flew under the radar on this site), or were we fairly certain it would be him (similar to how it appears with DD right now)?
