You mean other than a team that we have to compete with head to head every year getting a really good coach out of our own backyard?Seems to me DeVries taking the Indiana job is a heck of a lot better for us than DeVries deciding to stay at WVU

If that’s the case, shame on Iowa fan, 100%. This guy has done a pretty solid job in Peoria. If it's the Bradley coach, Carver will be 25% full again.
Unless WVa decides they want to drink from the Drake well a second time.Honestly, if DD goes to Indiana that almost assuredly gets us McCollum.
McCollum has made it known he wants the Iowa jobUnless WVa decides they want to drink from the Drake well a second time.
From memory, it was something like 41-37.Lick beat Izzo in what had to be his finest Iowa moment, I’m sure. Don’t think either team got out of the 40’s
Depends. Few other names I’d actually be really happy with. It's going to be hilarious when we don't hire DD or BMcC
I think DD has a good agent. The Indiana thing was real last night. Now it’s just getting more national attention today. Devries has to decide if he wants to come home, take the big Indiana pay day, or stay at WVU and get a big time extension. All 3 are very much possibilities, Dont expect this to take much longer.
Would be a big slap in the face to Iowa if he goes to Indiana since he has said before Iowa is his "dream" job.The Indiana thing was real last night. There are a lot of very well qualified candidates out there for the UIowa job……the AD’s job is to find the right one.Depends. Few other names I’d actually be really happy with.
Don’t think he factors in just how desperate IU is and how much money they’d be willing to throw around.Would be a big slap in the face to Iowa if he goes to Indiana since he has said before Iowa is his "dream" job.
That might be true, but he is ever wants the Iowa job this is his chance and If he takes the Indiana job it will be his last chance to,,,,,Don’t think he factors in just how desperate IU is and how much money they’d be willing to throw around.
Did you not read the rest of my post? You mean other than a team that we have to compete with head to head every year getting a really good coach out of our own backyard?
The IU job is a bit of a curse at the moment. It’s Nebraska football with mediocre results over the past 30 years but delusions of still being a top program. Don’t think Mark Cuban and NIL will change that. That might be true, but he is ever wants the Iowa job this is his chance and If he takes the Indiana job it will be his last chance to,,,,,
The boosters are not talent evaluators. She is not going to ask their opinions about who she should go after, nor should she care. She is going to do everything she can to see that we get the best coach possible. The two aforementioned coaches may not be available. I personally don't think Iowa is an attractive opening for an established coach. Whoever comes in will be starting from scratch with a lot of unknowns; NIL $, fan support, no roster...My sense from people who were on the big booster call is that she seemed to have a slight preference for McCollum and boosters seemed to want DeVries.

Ok, Mr Big Booster, where were your big bucks when I needed you to acquire talent???
I assume DD has made up his mind and the agent is using either Iowa or Indiana (or both) to drive up his salaryI think DD has a good agent.
i assume, but who knows, the NIL is obviously a huge deal. if that is the case, then it is a no brainer. Indiana has a lot more than iowa obviously.I assume DD has made up his mind and the agent is using either Iowa or Indiana (or both) to drive up his salary
Devries now top Indiana candidate says SI. Announcement could come soon. WV would backfill with Mc
But the boosters are the ones who write NIL checks... we want them excited and making it rain so we can get players. The boosters are not talent evaluators. i do not disagree, however, DD would infuse more excitement with the fanbase.I think it's better if Devries goes to Indiana. Listen to McCollum talk for 5 minutes and look at his record. He's easily the better candidate.
If they can't get excited about winning that's their problem. If Devries' brother didn't play football at Iowa this would be a different conversation. But the boosters are the ones who write NIL checks... we want them excited and making it rain so we can get players.
No one can really argue this. Concern is that like DD his dream job doesn’t become so dreamy when compared to much more lucrative alternatives. WVU would be the biggest threat in this scenario.,I think it's better if Devries goes to Indiana. Listen to McCollum talk for 5 minutes and look at his record. He's easily the better candidate.
Yes and no. I'm not excited about Devries track record in the post season. If they can't get behind a coach that wins all the time then more power to them.i do not disagree, however, DD would infuse more excitement with the fanbase.
Let them overpay and then been disappointed in 5 years when they haven't been to the Final 4.No one can really argue this. Concern is that like DD his dream job doesn’t become so dreamy when compared to much more lucrative alternatives. WVU would be the biggest threat in this scenario.,
Tell me you don’t understand NIL without saying you don’t understand NIL.It means she is a rookie, and I'm not in favor of shelling out $10M just to hire a coach and then have to pay that coach on top. Especially for men's college basketball. Why gamble so much on something that doesnt produce a whole lot of revenue to begin with.
I'd rather lock up a coach for $2M a year and then have another $3M for NIL each year.
