He really worked hard and turned himself into a damn fine player. I remember him signing with us and some people here saying he was a recruiting reach. Someone that Lickliter only recruited because he wouldn't have to work as hard to get him. He graduated as the #5 all time leading scorer in school history and got some run in the NBA. Not bad for the 250-something ranked player in the country out of high school.

He's a much different player now. He's now the kind of attacking player the Hawks really need to get. Happy for him and his success.
If I remember correctly dev was young for his class. Didn’t turn 18 until right after he started college I remember reading. So adds into little of a late bloomer. Amazing thing is he was the same age as a senior as Patrick is this year as a red shirt freshman who was 19 as a HS senior.
One of my favorite players in the Fran era. I think we forget the development of other players in the Fran era with all that Garza and recent players are doing. Whitey and Dev come to mind off the top of my head. You look at the senior seasons Gatens, Cole and Eric May had as well. Realize I am probably leaving some deserving guys out too. Kudos to these guys, Fran and his coaches for their continued development while in the program.

One of my all time favorite hawks. Such a smooth player. That dunk against Minnesota is legendary.
He’s one of the best to wear a Hawkeyes jersey. Sucks that off court politics soured the relationship between him and the school. Not something I can explain to my 9 year old son in any relatable terms.
I think that has somewhat been smoothed over by his dad being in the Hall of Fame. He was on the field this year at Kinnick.
