Yeah don't get me started with espn. I kind of get the whole Scott Van Pelt night thing but even then it gets annoying to sit through some of the BS when you want to see some highlights. It was strictly RPI that kept them out. Resumes stacked up against each other Iowa and Cuse probably had better resumes than Wake, K-State, and USC. Hell Providence had two losses to team RPI 200+!

Wait in about 10 years I bet the NCAA field will be 100 (combine the NIT & NCAA). Teams like Monmouth and other teams that win their conference regular season titles and teams that win their tournament titles will be granted an "AUTO" bid. Then they will fill in the rest w/at large teams.

You can tell some coaches are getting frustrated with the committee and how they change the criteria every year. The RPI is also annoying and I think you are seeing how the Power 5 can control the RPI and keep the little teams from getting opportunities to play/earn the top 50 wins. Mid-majors are also figuring out how to beat the RPI, but they are lacking top 50 wins.

Overall the first thing that needs to change is the RPI. Its a horrible metric and it is way outdated.

I mean, to be fair, UNC and Iowa aren't really comparable when it comes to the history of the programs. Especially recently. We also won that game by 5 points, so I wouldn't say it was an "ass whipping."

With that said, it is a bit annoying that there's such a huge deal being made out of Syracuse not being in. The only logical reason I can think of is them just thinking back to last year when Syracuse snuck in and then made a Final Four run. Last year they were 9-9 in the ACC and had 14 total losses but still made the run.

The NCAA Tournament has lost focus when Illinois State goes 17-1 in the regular season and is snubbed for teams like Michigan State who lost 14 games and Vanderbilt
who lost 15 or so. Does winning matter, or is the excuse strength of schedule which automatically put power conferences in. Love to see jock sniffers like Dick Vitale and Jay Bilas groan for their buddy poor old Jim Boheim.

The selection should be based on most deserving (ie - what have you accomplished), and seeding should be based on "best". If you don't have a good season, you shouldn't be rewarded.
