Didn't Report?

So it was part of the script to have Dak not run out the clock so Detroit could score and then have them come up short by screwing them and making it obvious that it was fixed?
If he's being serious, there's just no reasoning with these people.

I honestly can't believe we live in a time where people think the players and coaches and owners are all in on some weird scheme to fix games. Insane.

They believe it with every fiber of their being. And yet, no one has ever come forward to to reveal this diabolical plot.

If you saw it, then it was part of the script

But when someone does reveal it, they'll just blame it on CTE, which is really a made-up condition for this scenario.

Potentially costing your team and fans an extra home game in the playoffs because you had a tantrum is next level stupid.

Just kick the xp after that and settle shit down. Take it to ot. God
That’s not how Detroit operates under this coach.
Seems postgame there were legit questions being asked by the broadcast personnel. And afterall, it is the NFL. Controversial rules interpretations are nothing new to The League. And, unfortunately, with the rise of gambling $$ to the football industry, one will always have reasons to question.

Lost in all of this is how the coaches tried to outdumb the other. WTF was Dallas doing throwing the ball and stopping the clock? And WTH didn't the Lions kick the extra point after the "penalty"?
McCarthy and Dallas deserved to lose with their absolute garbage handling of time after the 2 minute warning.

70 is at tackle on the other side, but I think some of the confusion is about whether 68 was covered. That wasn't the issue. It was whether 70 was covered or not, which he was, because he "reported" as eligible, which he probably didn't.

The question Doodle has is why did 70 run directly to the official and two other Lions players near each other instead of to the team huddled up 5 yards away?

Why create any additional unnecessary ambiguity in the situation if you have zero intention of doing anything on the play other than the regular job of your position?

If he was doing nothing unusual on that play, he had absolutely no reason to go anywhere near that sidebar. And yet, he sprinted right at them and may have even said something, possibly helping cause confusion that led to the unfortunate outcome.

Doodle's not blaming the victim. The official still has to get the situation and call right. But that was a weird part of the scenario.

I'd like to see a view from the other side of the field to see if 70 unintentionally gave the ref the sign. On another note, Dallas was notified that 70 was eligible. So the defense had no reason to cover 68, but they may have if they thought he was eligible.

Detroit had 2 guys standing by the official (#68 was one of them) as #70 comes off the sideline running at the ref. The ref points at #70 then runs to the Cowboys side.

No reason for #70 to head towards the official there unless he's intending to report as eligible, nor for the other guy besides #68 to be talking with the official.

almost as bad as Coop’s punt return TD
Lol. Just came here to post that. I mentioned a couple times in those threads how it really sucks being an Iowa and a Lions fans because Ive seen bogus calls literally DIRECTLY cost my teams wins multiple times at both the college and pro level.

These aren't hypothetical situations where points came off the board in the first quarter and may or may not have effected the win-lose outcome. These are literally stolen games.

Again, as pro/college sports have crawled into bed more and more over the years with professional ( and supposedly “legal”) gambling, these questions will always be raised. Poor officiating/ bad
Post game, one of the network announcers..an ex qb...and I am terrible at names... was openly questioning “how” there could be no communication between the players and officials based on what he saw on the tape. This, if nothing else raises more noise...and as an ex plYer, I am sure he is more in tune with what goes on during a game, on the field.
The NFL has brought most of this on themselves. They need to definitely answer the questions being asked...and honestly.

So I guess no one here actually watched the game or they’re just choosing the forget what happened with 2:05 left in the fourth. The Lions never would have been in the position to score if the refs didn’t blow the tripping call. The bad call against Dallas was much worse. Cry me river…go Cowboys!

Honestly, imo the official got confused with multiple guys coming at him (my understanding is lions intended to create confusion by doing so with Dallas), but got too cute and ended up confusing the official as well.

this is a scenario that I’d like to see added as a reviewable play going forward.

It is simpler than that. McCarthy runs the ball on 2nd and 3rd down and the Lions have a 1:00 left vs 1:40. More pressure on the Lions and they likely run out of time before they score.

All they would be able to say is "no play, no penalty" otherwise one team is getting screwed by their screw up.

It really doesn’t matter who reported or didn’t because either way it was an illegal formation. Either they were covered up or if they weren’t then it was 5 in the backfield

Sure, but then they get another shot from the 2 instead of the 7. Huge difference.

campbell also screwed up when he lost his cool, should have just kicked tha PAT after the first penalty imo.

All of which goes away if people don't believe the results are legitimate.
Maybe….but you’re dealing with an addiction here in America with its football. The game is secondary to the drinking, tailgating and gambling that accompanies it to a large extent….,,.,.
Take away tailgating (limit it to 2 hours before and 1 hour after a gamea) and booze (make it ILLEGAL and ENFORCE the law as currently written) from Iowa home games and see what happens to the crowds…

I have seen stuff in college and pro games that absolutely defies explanation and these decisions always seem to affect game lines……and always it seems, the Leagues (colleges/professional) response is something lame and muddled and mostly allows time to heal all wounds…..
I can’t prove it……but I can believe my eyes. I don’t gamble any more…….havenT for 40 years or so……used to dabble a bit.

Brad Allen’s crew is poorly rated. Things the crew that allowed a Chiefs WR to be tackled late in a game this year denying them a chance to win. They had a really shaky game in Seattle last year, too.
