Dikitch

Dakich has always been one of the worst announcers, but he was on another level of crazy yesterday. He was gushing about a routine transition block by a big man who only plays 7 minutes a game like he had seen the next Shaq. Every player was "special" in some way ... well, no shit, Dickhead, it was two top 15 teams going at it. It was like he had never seen a basketball game before--every play a player made was the best play he had ever seen. Guy needs to stop smoking crack during games, too.

For insight about the game, I think it’s him and Bilas. THey’re both fantastic, but Dakich is comfortable being brutally honest. I’m always happy to get a Dakich game. Even when I disagree or don’t like what he’s saying, I know it’s coming from his gut honesty. I can respect that.
Good summary.

He consistently harps on things that are irrelevant that you will never hear anyone else talk about.

His analysis is often ridiculous because of this.

He once talked for a whole game about how "good players don't step out of bounds".

Thats not annalsiys, thats irrelevant nonsense.

You're on the money. He is a master of the obvious. I had the game muted most of the time, but during times when the sound was on I'd find myself repeatedly saying "I know, you idiot, I'm watching the same game." But it's his hyperbole that gets me. He regularly reacts with outrageous enthusiasm on routine plays. I would pay to watch a long line of people kick him in the nuts.

I don’t get too annoyed unless an announcer is super one sided against us. I thought he was over the top but wasn’t enough to mute. He praised both sides, but then again I had 5 kids running around screaming so I may have missed some things. I am a fan of Bennett, Settles, Bilas, and one of the black dudes that does a lot of BIG games. (someone hopefully help with a name, he’s fantastic)

Are you thinking of Bardo? I think he does B10 basketball games. Yeah, it wasn't bias that bothered me, just way over the top with the superlatives. Every play he's screaming at the top of his lungs that it was either the best or worst play he had ever seen.

I chuckle when he provides his tips for “you young players out there”. It is not a clinic and those young guys are not watching, they are playing. He has a ton of insight and good knowledge but you don’t have to constantly talk. He is at his best when pointing out action away from the ball that the casual fan might miss.
‘yesterday he tried for 5 minutes to make some point about Nebraska basketball without actually saying what he meant. The only thing I remember is he said Fred Hoyburger is a unicorn.

Yeah, said Hoiberg is a unicorn, basically falls forward with jobs. I was thinking wtf? Nebraska is not a fall forward type of job. Must of been thinking about his boy Steve Alfraud always falling and landing on his feet.

He is the best of a sorry group of analysts. Not a fan of bardo or shonn whathisname.

He always over reacts to what's just happened.
LOL at about the 10:00 mark in 2nd half he goes off about how Rutgers is THEE MOST ALERT TEAM IN MCBB. Then immediately before the camera picks it up we score off an inbounds play.

It is ironic that many dislike Dakich because he speaks so openly without being politically correct which is predominately what most sports fans say they want. If you don't agree with what he is saying, as I often do not, my advice is... who cares? It doesn't bother me one iota. No, I don't think Adam Woodbury was actually trying to poke opponents in the eyes; he was just a poorly coordinated 7-foot center. But if him saying that or his other random tangents rile you up, then maybe you have the issues and not Dakich. It's also not his job to fawn about Iowa. The guy is passionate about college basketball and has much more good things to say about Iowa than not. If he has criticisms, again... who cares. We look silly for threads like this titled 'Dikitch'. Iowa is getting the national spotlight this year. Deal with the punches and enjoy the ride y'all.

Also, Jason Benetti is a star and fits like a glove with anyone he works with. He just announced a Bulls game yesterday one day after the Iowa game and he has automatic chemistry with any color analyst, any sport.

Dakitch cant stop talking but he does have some insights and has fun. He was excited about Rutgers/Iowa you gotta like that. You can always turn off the volume.

I think DD is full of shit.

In my opinion most of the time hes trying to make himself out to be a genius by talking about weird stuff that is either not real or irrelevant.

Like saying Rutgers is the "most allert team in the country". Thats not something that can be determined and no one else will ever say something like that because its absurd.

He wants people to think he can see things no one else can but its just BS.

Hubbie Brown is the gold standard for basketball analysis.

Interesting you think Dakich talks too much (he most definitely does) but you like Brown. He never shuts up. "Now look, this is a bounce pass to the paint. Listen, bounce pass is a good pass here. Look, bounce pass was the right play. Now there ya go."

I never said DD talks to much. I said he talks about bullshit things that don't matter or are made up.

His talking points are all about trying to impress the audience with his amazing insights. But its mostly bs.

Talking about a bounce pass is actually a real thing that matters in a basketball game.

Not pep talks for "tough guys".

Benetti also does Chicago White Sox games on TV with Steve Stone. He is one of the best in the busniess, IMO.

It’s Hubie. Not trying to be rude with the correction but I like him too.

I like listening to Dakich, he seems to be enjoying himself watching the game. He says alot of good things about all the players. And that's probably good since with as loud as he talks, and no one in the building the players and coaches probably here everything he says.

Give me Dakich and Bardo over guys like Vitale and Calhoun any day! I also think that Hummel does a pretty good job.
